Admission into the Admiralty University of Nigeria is open to candidates with the requisite qualifications and subject to written and/or oral examination as the University may determine. Admission into the University shall be open to all irrespective of religion, ethnic group, gender, creed and disability. All applicants for admission into the University must have attained 16 years of age.
A candidate applying for any Postgraduate programme must possess five (5) Credits at SSCE (WAEC/NECO/GCE ‘O’ Level), NABTEB and or its equivalence including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. NYSC certificate or Exemption/Exclusion Letter (for Nigerians) is required for admission into all Postgraduate programmes.

Before joining the university, he served as the Director of Equipment Standardization and Harmonization at the Defense Headquarters in Abuja. His appointment to ADUN followed the institution’s charter, which mandates that the DVC must be a serving Navy officer of the rank of Commodore or above, and must hold a doctorate degree.
Rear Admiral Abdullahi started his military career at the Nigerian Defense Academy as a member of the 40th Regular Course, having enlisted on September 10, 1988. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master of Technology in Telecommunications Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile?Ife, and earned a Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
His naval career has been decorated with numerous honors, including the Grand Service Star (GSS), Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS), and Forces Service Medal (FSS).
In his first remarks to the university community, he expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve and affirmed his commitment to academic excellence and institutional development, especially as ADUN transitions into a full federal university under the Nigerian Navy.
