About

AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY, ILORIN-NIGERIA, was established in 2005 by the Abdur-Raheem Oladimeji Islamic Foundation (AROIF), Nigeria. The university came into existence via the granting of a license to operate as a conventional private university by the Federal Government of Nigeria (License No. 010) on 7th January 2005. It is the first Islamic faith-based university in Nigeria. It commenced academic activities during the 2005/2006 academic session with 70 students spread across the three (3) take-off colleges: humanities, management sciences, and natural sciences.

Today, Al-Hikmah University has seven (10) faculties (Humanities and Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Education, Law, Health Sciences, Agriculture, Nursing, Computing, Engineering and Technology, and College of Health Sciences) and the Postgraduate School.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  1. Applicants must have JAMB Result and possess a minimum of five (5) credits in WASSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/SISC Examinations or their equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings in the subjects relevant to their proposed Undergraduate Programmes. English Language at credit level is compulsory for all candidates.
  2.  In addition, credit in Mathematics is compulsory for candidates seeking admission into Degree Programmes in the Faculty of Management Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences and some Education Courses. Direct Entry admission is also available for applicants with suitable qualifications who obtained Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) DE Form.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): Applicants must possess First Degree from Al-Hikmah University Ilorin or any other recognised University. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) are also eligible. However all candidates must satisfy the University’s O’level requirements.
  2. Master Degree: Applicants for the academic or Professional Master degree programme who are graduates of Al-Hikmah University Ilorin or any other recognised Universities, must possess minimum of Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division). However, applicants with Third Class Honour Degree with Postgraduate Diploma Certificate in relevant field may be admitted provided they score a minimum of 60% in the qualifying examination to be administered by respective Departments in the University.
  3. Doctorate Degree: Applicants with Master Degree from Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin or any other recognised Universities must have scored at least 60% or its equivalent in CGPA in the final Master Degree Examination to qualify for the admission to Doctor of Philosophy Programmes. However, candidate with less than 60% but not less than 50% may apply for M.phil/Ph.D. All applicants for Ph.D & Mphil/Ph.D shall appear for an interview to be conducted by various Departments in the University.  Final admission depends on the outcome of the interview.

Take the print-out to the University Bursary Department and collect your official payment receipt.

Step 5: Screening at Admissions Office

Submit the following at the Admissions Office:

  • Official payment receipt
  • Your documents will be screened immediately.

Step 6: Post-UTME Screening (For Undergraduates)

Prof. Lateef Oladimeji

Prof. Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji was born on 9th April, 1963 in Lagos to the family of Late Chief Imam Alh. Oseni Oladimeji and Alhaja Muneerat Oladimeji. imeji proceeded to Lagos Secondary Commercial Academy (LASCA), Obakoro. He was the first student to register for IRK in the School and made A2 in 1981 West African School Certificate (WASC). Later, he went to the University of Ilorin in 1983 where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A. Hons.) with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in Islamic Studies. Again, he was the best student in Islamic Studies during the 1987 Convocation and was thus given the Islamic Publications Bureau Award for the year. For this feat, Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji was retrained in his Department (Religions) Faculty of Arts for the mandatory National Youth Services (NYSC) Programme in 1987/88 service year. He also won the Unilorin Postgraduate Scholarship Award which enabled him pursued and successfully completed his Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Islamic Studies, 1989.a

    ended Government High School, Ilorin between 1990 to 1996 where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC). From there, Dr. Kazeem Oladimeji proceeded to University of Applied Sciences, Kothen, Germany between 1997 to 1998 for his University Foundation Certificate. Thereafter, he enrolled for study abroad at Anglia Polytechnic University, Essex, England, between 2001 to 2002.

    Pursuing further his academic career, Dr. Kazeem Adebayo Oladimeji enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences, Fulda, Germany where he obtained his Masters in International Management in 2005.

    In addition, he obtained Certified Data Scientist at the University of Applied Sciences, New-Ulm, Germany in 2019 and in 2020, he attended Jambit GmbH, Germany for his Certified Software Engineer and Agile Project Manager.

    According to the appointment letter made available to FUT, Minna Information Unit and signed by the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Dr. M. D. Abubakar said the appointment was based on his satisfactory performance during the interview held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

    “The Governing Council of the University expects that you will do your best in this regard to further contribute to the advancement of the University”, the letter stated.

    He was born on April 19, 1976, hails from Ajase Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. He attended Biodun Nursery/Primary School, Ilorin after which he proceeded to Unilorin Secondary School, Ilorin.

    Mr. Omoniyi, graduated from University of Ilorin (Accounting) in the year 2000. Before then, he was at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin for his Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Examination in 1997. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the same University. He is an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

    who has dedicated his extensive career to the academic library system. He is a married father of four children.

    His academic journey began with his early education at N.A. School, Yaru, and N.A. School, Igbaja, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1965. He later earned his Grade Two Teachers’ Certificate in 1971 and successfully completed his London GCE (O/L and A/L) in 1972. His higher education was primarily at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned a Graduate Certificate in Education from 1974-1977. He continued his studies at the same institution from 1988-1991, obtaining a Bachelor of Library Science and a Master of Library Science, respectively. In addition to his degrees, he holds a Certificate in Computer Internet Application from the Ministry of Education and Human Development, which he obtained in 2006 from the School of Computer Technology, Kwara State.

The University also has 8 Centres which includes Part-time and Professional Studies, Diploma and JUBEB Studies, ICT and Distance Learning, Islamic Heritage and Community Development, Research and International Cooperation, Summer Studies, Entrepreneurial and Vocational, Remedial and Extral Moral Studies and Centre for Islamic Economics and Finance.
