  • Classrooms: Brock University has classrooms, which include flat-floored classrooms, seminar rooms, and computer labs within the Learning Commons. These spaces are equipped for various learning activities, from large lectures to small group discussions, and feature technologies like projectors and audio-visual equipment. 
  • Library: Brock University has a library, which is the James A. Gibson Library, the central library for the university. It provides students, faculty, and staff with a wide range of resources, services, and study spaces, including online databases, print and electronic collections, computer access, and bookable study rooms. 
  • Place of Worship: The Faith and Life Centre now finds its home in one of the most beautiful spaces on campus, Alphie’s Trough. Set into the escarpment, right on the Bruce Trail, the FLC is a peaceful escape from the bustle of the University campus. The Centre is a space for all students, and all student clubs – religious or otherwise. Part of the space is designated as a drop-in quiet study space, while the other half is primarily used for religious practices, i.e. prayer groups, Bible studies, and discussion groups.
  • Sports: Brock University has a wide range of sports and recreation facilities available to its students and the community, centered around the Walker Sports Complex and the adjacent Canada Games Park. 
  • Gym: Brock students have access to The Zone Fitness centre.  The newly expanded Zone is 15,000 square feet of state of the art equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, power mills, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, ski ergs, indoor rowers and spin bikes for cardio training.
  • Accommodation: The University offers accommodations on campus to fit any preference. They have single and shared rooms, townhouse- or traditional-style residence buildings and a wide variety of meal plans to cater to any taste. If you would prefer to live away from campus, Brock’s Off-Campus Living office provides up-to-date listings for a wide variety of available accommodations. Living in Niagara means you’ll reside in reasonably priced housing in a community surrounded by some fantastic scenery and green space.
  • Laboratory: Brock University has a wide range of modern teaching and research laboratories across many departments, including the sciences, health sciences, and education. 
  • Cafeteria: Brock University has several dining options, including what could be considered a cafeteria, such as the all-you-care-to-eat Fresh Food Company locations and various food courts. It also has numerous other places to eat, like cafes, restaurants, and grab-and-go options, that cater to students.

History

In 1963 the Brock University Founders' Committee, chaired by Arthur Schmon and co-chaired by William B Gunning, offered Dr. James A. Gibson the invitation to become the founding president.

Brock University was established by the passage of the Brock University Act by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 1964. When the university first opened in September 1964, classes were held at the St. Paul Street United Church in downtown St. Catharines for 13 weeks until the Glenridge Campus was completely renovated.
