Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  • Tariff points: 112

  • GCSE: Five GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above to include English Language / Welsh First Language, Mathematics / Mathematics – Numeracy.
  • English Language Requirement: Academic IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in all elements, or equivalent.
  • A-level subjects: Minimum three A levels to include Grades CCC. No specific subjects required. Welsh Advanced Skills Baccalaureate considered as a third subject.
  • BTEC National / Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma: DMM
  • T Level: Merit.
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma: No specific subjects required.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: 2 x H5. No specific subjects required.
  • Irish Leaving Certificate: 2 x H2 grades. No specific subjects required. Higher level subjects only considered with a minimum grade H4.
  • Scottish Advanced Highers: Grades DD. No specific subjects required. Scottish Highers are also considered, either on their own or in combination with Advanced Highers.

 

International Student: 

Entry requirements differ from course to course. Check the course page for entry requirements. The University values both work experience and academic qualifications and will consider students from a wide range of academic backgrounds. You may also need to undertake an English qualification before being admitted onto a course. For guidance on entry requirements from your country, please check our Country Specific Information Page.

  • Statement of Purpose/ personal statement - this is your opportunity to tell the University more about your previous qualification/experience, why you wish to study the course and in the UK. When writing your SOP, explain reasons for wanting to study the subject, how your skills/experience/knowledge meet the entry criteria, how the course will help your career or long-term personal development plans and what else you have done outside of the classroom setting (e.g. voluntary work/work experience/ hobbies or special interests). A Statement of Purpose is not required for the International Foundation Course
  • English language certificate or NARIC Statement of Comparability - if applicable. Please see the English Language Requirements page for more details.
  • 1 educational reference (2 employer references are required for offers based on work experience). Your reference must be submitted on official headed paper. A reference is not required for the International Foundation Course and Foundation Leading to courses.
  • Evidence of sponsorship – if applicable
  • Art and Design courses only – you should send a copy of your portfolio which should include 10-20 clear and informative slides or photographs on a CD ROM or through an appropriate online resource such as Flickr. This should be accompanied by an explanation of the dimensions, medium, subject matter and any other information. We would also welcome any further statements about the influences, aims and ideas in your work, your ambitions and other achievements
  • Sports courses only – evidence of personal sporting achievements

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

Entry requirements vary by course. Check the course page for requirements. 

  • Possess, or expect to obtain, an undergraduate degree or equivalent, in a relevant area with a minimum of a 2:2 classification. Students with a general Business Studies degree with a relevant pathway or substantive appropriate module coverage will be considered on a case by case basis; 
  • Have a minimum of five years relevant work experience in the field of finance; 
  • Hold a suitable professional qualification from an appropriate professional body. In some instances those with higher level professional qualifications may be exempt from specific taught modules. Such exemptions would be discussed on a case by case basis with the Programme Director.

Vice Chancellor

Professor Rachael Langford

Professor Rachael Langford has been President and Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff Metropolitan University since February 2024, having been the University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor since 2021.

Rachael is a modern linguist by academic background and holds a BA and MA in French (Oxford University) and a PhD in French Cultural Studies from Cambridge University. She has researched and taught widely o... read more

n nineteenth-century French cultural studies and on postcolonial and colonial French-speaking cultures, particularly film and photography.

As Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Rachael was the executive lead for international engagement and for marketing, communications and student recruitment, as well as for the strategic planning, resourcing and oversight of the academic mission of the 5 academic Schools. Prior to being appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor in 2021, Rachael was Executive Dean (International Recruitment) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes University. Prior to that, Rachael was Head of the School of Modern Languages at Cardiff University for a number of years, having previously been Director of Research and Director of Postgraduate Research Students for Modern Languages, including leading on key aspects of REF2014 submission. A native-level speaker of French and fluent Welsh speaker, Rachael is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and continues to research and publish in her areas of expertise, as far as her leadership responsibilities permit.
