Cardiff University (Welsh: Prifysgol Caerdydd) is a public research university in Cardiff, Wales. It was established in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire and became a founding college of the University of Wales in 1893.

For Undergraduate:

  1. Choose what you want to study by searching the school's courses page
  2. Check the UCAS deadline for your course
  3. Check the entry requirements on the school's courses page
  4. Apply through UCAS. Before you make your online application, you will need to register with UCAS.
  5. Wait for the school to decide
  6. Reply to your university offers.
  7. Check what your exam results mean.
  8. Confirm your university place.
  • Applications should be made by an online application however if you are unable to complete the application online you will need to fill in a paper application.
  • If you're an international student applying to study with Cardiff University, you may also need to consider:

For Postgraduate:

  1. Choose a taught course or research area.
  2. Check the start date and application deadline.
  3. Check the entry requirements - if you have not yet met the entry requirements, you can usually still apply for a course. You may receive an offer of a place on the condition that you meet the requirements before you start the course.
  4. Check you can pay the fees (they vary depending on course) and the living costs.
  5. Look at the school's funding pages to see the financial support available - if you intend to apply for funding, you are advised to submit your application at least two months before a scholarship deadline.
  6. Write a research proposal and find a supervisor to discuss your proposal (for self-funded research projects only).
  7. Gather the supporting documents required for your application.
  8. Apply through the school's online application portal via their course and research area pages - you can save your application and return to it later, so you don’t need to complete it all at once.
  9. Wait for the school to process your application.
  10. The school will send you an offer find out what your offer means.
  11. You should reply to the offer by the set deadline.
  12. Once the school has confirmed your offer, the school will write to you to officially welcome you to Cardiff University and provide any further information you need.

Professor Wendy Larner
