Undergraduate Admission Requirement

UTME

  • Five (5) O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings, plus three (3) other relevant subjects.
  • WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB results can be combined (max two sittings).
  • Candidates who scored 140 and above in JAMB (UTME), whether or not they chose Caritas University as their first choice, can apply.
  • The cut-off mark is 140 for radiography, medical lab, and nursing.
  • Candidates awaiting SSCE (or equivalent) results may apply, provided results will be available at resumption.

JUPEB

Eligible Candidates must possess a minimum of Credits Level Pass at a maximum of two (2) sittings in at least five (5) subjects (inclusive of English Language) relevant to the candidate’s desired course of study in the University.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

General Requirements:

  1. All applicants must have a credit pass at Ordinary Level in five relevant subjects, including English Language, obtained in no more than two sittings.
  2. Candidates with ‘O’ Level results from before 2016 must provide their certificates (not statements of results or result slips).
  3. NYSC Completion Certificates (Discharge Certificates), Exemption Certificates, or Exclusion Certificates are required from all applicants.
  4. Applicants who earned their first degrees through remedial programs must provide evidence of having remedied the relevant subjects externally (e.g., through WASCE, NECO, or NABTEB).
  5. In addition to general qualifications, applicants must meet specific departmental requirements for their chosen programs.
  6. Admissions will not be offered without official transcripts and letters of reference.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):

  1. Graduates of Caritas University or any recognized university.
  2. Holders of qualifications equivalent to a first degree or a recognized Higher National Diploma (HND).

Master’s Degree:

  1. Graduates with a minimum of Second Class Honors in their undergraduate degree.

Doctoral Degree:

  1. Graduates of Caritas University or any recognized university with a master’s degree.
  2. Applicants must have completed a dissertation and achieved an overall average score of at least 60% (B).

Professor Michael Uchenna Orji

Professor Michael Uchenna Orji is a distinguished Nigerian academic and administrator, currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Caritas University, Enugu. Born in Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area, he is married and has built a remarkable career spanning over three decades in academia, industry, and public service.

f Port-Harcourt, where he earned his B.Sc. (Hons) in Microbiology. He furthered his studies at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, obtaining an M.Sc. in Food and Industrial Microbiology, a PGD in Business Administration, and ultimately a Ph.D. in Food and Environmental Microbiology. His early education was completed at Boys' High School, Umuawulu, where he received his West African School Certificate.

His diverse career began with a period of national service as a Lab Scientist at General Hospital, Iwo, Oyo State (NYSC 1984), followed by a role as a Lab Scientist at BEMAC Medical Laboratory, Agulu (1984-1985). He transitioned into teaching as a Biology Teacher with the Anambra State Ministry of Education (1985-1992). Professor Orji also gained valuable experience in the industrial sector, serving as a Production Manager at Yac-Orchian Ventures, Ifite Awka (1993-1995), Business Manager at BAEJ Distilleries & Co. Ltd, Nnewi (1995-1997), and Production Manager at Lamour Spring Water Ltd, Abagana (1997-2000). He also held a political appointment as Supervisor for Works at Awka South LGA (1992-1993).

His extensive university teaching career began at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, on July 22, 2000, where he started as an Assistant Lecturer and steadily rose through the ranks: Lecturer II (2002), Lecturer I (2004), Senior Lecturer (2007), and Associate Professor (2010), culminating in his promotion to Professor on October 1, 2013. He has also served as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Caritas University (2007-2008), a Part-Time Instructional/Tutorial Facilitator at the National Open University of Nigeria, Awka Study Center (2008), and a Visiting Professor at Caritas University (2013-2014, 2017-date), Salem University, Lokoja (2015/2016), and Veritas University, Abuja (2016/2017).

Professor Orji is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), Institute of Public Analyst of Nigeria (IPAN), Society for Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (SOSEH), and the Nigeria Institute for Food Science and Technology (NIFST). He also demonstrates a commitment to community development as Chairman of the Rural and Environmental Health Initiative (NGO) and Secretary of the Foundation for African Development through International Biotechnology (FADIB). His leadership extends to his roles as a Fellow of the Strategic Institute for Natural Resources and Human Development (SIN RHD), Chancellor of Friends Forum International, and Chairman of Men of Goodwill International. He is also recognized as a Justice of Peace in Anambra State.

History

Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu, is a private institution approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria on December 16, 2004. It officially opened its doors on January 21, 2005, under the leadership of the Federal Minister for Education, Prof. Fabian Osuji. The university’s first cohort of 250 students matriculated on May 28, 2005, in a grand ceremony attended by esteemed figures from both church and state.
