Postgraduate Admission Requirments

Entry criteria for applicants to MSc/MA by Research

  • Minimum of a 2:1 first degree in a relevant discipline/subject area with a minimum 60% mark in the project element or equivalent with a minimum 60% overall module average.

Entry criteria for applicants to Doctoral Study (including PhD and Professional Doctorates)

  • A minimum of a 2:1 first degree in a relevant discipline/subject area with a minimum 60% mark in the project element or equivalent with a minimum 60% overall module average.
  • In the event of a first-degree classification of less than 2:1, a Masters Degree in a relevant subject area will be considered as an equivalent.
  • The Masters must have been attained with minimum overall marks at merit level (60%). In addition, the dissertation or equivalent element in the Masters must also have been attained with a minimum mark of merit level (60%).

            *Or higher where stipulated against a specific opportunity.

English Language Proficiency required for Research Degrees

At the point of application, international applicants are required to demonstrate their English language proficiency through the attainment of or booking of an approved English language test. The tests accepted for admission to a research degree at Coventry University are:

  • IELTS Academic / IELTS for UKVI (Academic)
  • TOEFL iBT / TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition (Online)

Accommodation: Coventry University has a wide range of excellent accommodation on offer to students. These include traditional halls of residence, self-catered and ensuite rooms, all on or within close proximity of our campus.

Research Centers: Over the last several years, Coventry University has trebled the size of its researcher community. Its challenge-led interdisciplinary research centres house over 500 world-renowned experts, from professors and directors to research associates.

Sports: Coventry University has excellent sports and fitness facilities and many sports clubs, teams and societies for you to join. The sports centre contains two sports halls, the main and the minor hall. With a range of markings and equipment these can be used for badminton, futsal, netball, basketball and more.

Gym: The fitness suite contains a large range of machines and equipment to cover a variety of exercise to help you work out. We also have experienced staff on hand to help guide you in your workout and to answer any questions you may have.

Place of Worship: Spirituality and faith support is available to all students and staff at Coventry University. Our Spirituality and Faith Centre located in The Hub is a warm and welcoming environment for all faiths and none. Facilities include a chapel, Muslim prayer rooms (with ablution facilities), a spacious lounge and a multi-faith library. A team of chaplains can offer prayer services on campus. They also provide confidential pastoral support to students of all faiths.
