Edo State University Iyamho, was established by the Edo State University Iyamho Law (2014) and subsequently amended to Edo State University Iyamho, Uzairue, (Amendment Law 2015). It was further amended as Edo State University Iyamho (Amendment Law 2016). The University was accorded recognition and issued license by the National Universities Commission on 23rd March, 2016, as the 41st State owned University and 142nd University in Nigeria.
Edo State University Iyamho is a fee-paying institution of world-class standard. The purpose for establishing the University is to meet the increasing demands for quality tertiary education in Edo State in particular and Nigeria in general. The Edo State Government also realised that developing human capital through quality education is the key to meaningful development of the State, hence the need to establish a University that will provide quality education. The University is also expected to propel social, economic, political, cultural, scientific and industrial growth of the State and Nigeria. The establishment of theEdo State University Uzairue will equally increase access to tertiary education for Edo State citizens and other Nigerians. Edo State University Iyamho is fully owned by Edo State Government.

Application for admission is open to candidates who wrote the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
All Direct Entry candidates are required to purchase and process the 2025 JAMB Direct Entry Form. Edo State University Iyamho accepts the following for Direct Entry Admission into 200 Level:
Candidates will be allowed to transfer from other NUC accredited Universities to Edo State University Iyamho provided they meet the following conditions:
Note: UTME/DE and Transfer Candidates are expected to pay the sum of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000) for Post UTME/ DE Application fee and Sixty Thousand Naira (N60,000) Transfer Application fee respectively.
A candidate applying for any Postgraduate programme must possess five (5) Credits at SSCE (WAEC/NECO/ GCE ‘O’ Level), NABTEB, and or their equivalents including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.
NYSC certificate or exemption letter is required for admission into all Postgraduate programmes.
If shortlisted, participate in the Post-UTME screening exercise on the scheduled date.
