About

Edo State University Iyamho, was established by the Edo State University Iyamho Law (2014) and subsequently amended to Edo State University Iyamho, Uzairue, (Amendment Law 2015). It was further amended as Edo State University Iyamho (Amendment Law 2016). The University was accorded recognition and issued license by the National Universities Commission on 23rd March, 2016, as the 41st State owned University and 142nd University in Nigeria.
Edo State University Iyamho is a fee-paying institution of world-class standard. The purpose for establishing the University is to meet the increasing demands for quality tertiary education in Edo State in particular and Nigeria in general. The Edo State Government also realised that developing human capital through quality education is the key to meaningful development of the State, hence the need to establish a University that will provide quality education. The University is also expected to propel social, economic, political, cultural, scientific and industrial growth of the State and Nigeria. The establishment of theEdo State University Uzairue will equally increase access to tertiary education for Edo State citizens and other Nigerians. Edo State University Iyamho is fully owned by Edo State Government.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

UTME Students 

Application for admission is open to candidates who wrote the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

  1. Applicants are to complete the online Application Form by visiting Edo State University Iyamho website at: www.edouniversity.edu.ng
  2. All applicants are required to meet the Departmental minimum entry requirement of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at GCE O' Level/SSCE, NECO, NABTEB or their equivalents at not more than two sittings. However, for Medicine and Surgery (MB;BS), the five credits (including Mathematics and English) must be obtained at one sitting only.
  3. Candidates awaiting results in (b) above may also apply.
  4. All applicants will be required to go through Edo State University Iyamho Screening Exercise.
  5. Candidates who wrote the 2025 UTME but did not choose Edo State University Iyamho as First Choice can apply by changing their choice of University/Course of Study to Edo University as follows:
    • Apply for Change of Institution through JAMB
    • Complete the Edo State University Iyamho Online Application Form

 

Direct Entry Students 

All Direct Entry candidates are required to purchase and process the 2025 JAMB Direct Entry Form. Edo State University Iyamho accepts the following for Direct Entry Admission into 200 Level:

  1. A minimum of Merit pass in NCE, Credit in OND/HND or a University degree in relevant discipline.
  2. Candidates with two Advanced Level passes or its equivalent in relevant subjects.
  3. The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) or Cambridge moderated School of Basic Studies at acceptable grade levels.
  4. In addition to a University degree/NCE/ND/HND/IJMB/JUPEB or two Advanced Level papers specified by each Faculty or Programme, candidates must also satisfy the O' level requirements.
  5. Any other qualification as approved by the University Senate.

Transfer Students

Candidates will be allowed to transfer from other NUC accredited Universities to Edo State University Iyamho provided they meet the following conditions:

  1. Purchase and complete the prescribed Edo University Inter-University Transfer application Form online.
  2. Pass interview/Screening conducted by Edo State University Iyamho.
  3. Hold the minimum entry requirements for admission into Edo State University Iyamho.
  4. Hold JAMB admission letter to your current University.
  5. Ensure that the transcript of their academic records are received in the Admissions Office of Edo State University Iyamho.
  6. Have a C.G.P.A. of not less than 1.5

Note: UTME/DE and Transfer Candidates are expected to pay the sum of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000) for Post UTME/ DE Application fee and Sixty Thousand Naira (N60,000) Transfer Application fee respectively.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

General Admission Requirements 

A candidate applying for any Postgraduate programme must possess five (5) Credits at SSCE (WAEC/NECO/ GCE ‘O’ Level), NABTEB, and or their equivalents including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. 

NYSC certificate or exemption letter is required for admission into all Postgraduate programmes.

Postgraduate Diploma programme (PGD)

  1. A First Degree not less than Third Class Honors in relevant fields may be considered.
  2. Candidates with HND in relevant field may be considered.
  3. Any relevant professional qualification.

Master Degree programme (M.Eng, M.Sc., MA, MPA, MBA)

  1. A Minimum of Second Class Honors (Lower Division) degree from a recognized University.
  2. Candidates with relevant Postgraduate Diploma at credit level.
  3. Any relevant professional qualification adjudged to be equivalent to the above.

Master of Philosophy programme (M.Phil.)

  1. Candidate must have a Master Degree with a weighted average score of not less than 50% (CGPA of not less than 3.0 on a 5 point scale).

PhD programme

  1. Master’s degree with a weighted average score of 60% and above (CGPA of not less than 4.0 on a 5 point scale).
  2. Candidates who do not make up to 60% (? 55% or CGPA of not less than 3.5 on a 5 point scale) or deficient in some prerequisite courses especially from another institution may be required to register for the M.Phil/Ph.D. programme. The Department may prescribe appropriate courses for candidates whose academic record is considered deficient for the area of specialization.
  3. In addition, PhD applicants should submit a concept note/research proposal of not more than 450 words along with their application form.

How To Apply For Admission

Step 1: Complete JAMB Registration

  • UTME Applicants: Write the JAMB exam and select Edo State University (EDSU) or Edo University, Iyamho as your first-choice institution.
  • Direct Entry Applicants: Purchase the JAMB DE form, indicate EDSU/Iyamho as your institution, and provide relevant qualifications (A?level, IJMB, OND, HND, etc.) 

Step 2: Check Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Have at least five credit passes in WAEC/NECO/NABTEB (including English & Maths) at no more than two sittings.
  • Medicine & Surgery (MBBS) requires five credits in one sitting 
  • Ensure your JAMB UTME score meets departmental cut-off 

Step 3: Complete the Online Application Form

  • Visit the official EDSU/Iyamho website: www.edouniversity.edu.ng and select the UTME/Direct Entry Admission Form.
  • Fill out the online application including personal details, academic history, and course choices 
  • If you didn’t choose EDSU/Iyamho first, change your institution via JAMB CAPS, then return to complete the application

Step 4: Pay Application Fee

  • Pay N2000 for Post-UTME / Direct Entry application and screening.
  • Transfer applicants pay N60000 

Step 5: Attend Screening Exercise

If shortlisted, participate in the Post-UTME screening exercise on the scheduled date.
