Eko University of Medicine and Health Sciences (EkoUNIMED) is a specialised, privately owned, medical, non-sectarian, and co-educational institution. Standing for Excellence and Compassion, EkoUNIMED is not just a University, but highly specialized one, a pioneer Private Medical University not only in Nigerian, but certainly in West Africa. With a mission to develop world-class human resources to meet global development challenges; the university offers courses in Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Dentistry and Dental Surgery, and other medical allied programmes as well as Information and Communication Technology.

Through our research center, our faculty members are involved in studies that support policy making for national development often in collaboration with renowned international institutions.

There are currently prospective Nigeria and international institutions that are willing to hold affiliations with Eko University of Medicine and Health Sciences (EkoUNIMED). As a unique tertiary institution, we plan to establish several link agreements with universities in Africa, America, Europe, Middle East, Asia and for students, faculty and staff exchanges as well as collaborative research.

The mission of the university is to provide an all-embracing health education and services through the production of resourceful and competent physicians, dentists and pharmacists and other healthcare providers, who will be equipped to deliver promotive, preventive and specialized medical and other health-related care by way of research and best practices.

  • Faculty of Clinical Sciences: Encompasses clinical departments including Surgery, Medicine, Community Medicine, and others. 
  • Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences: Offers foundational courses in sciences relevant to medical studies.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  1. Applicants must be at least 16 years old at the time of admission.
  2. A minimum of five (5) credit passes in core science subjects, obtained at a single sitting, is required.
  3. Candidates must have selected the institution as one of their choices on the JAMB CAPS platform.
  4. Minimum UTME Score: MBBS Programme: 200, Other Health Science Programmes (in view): 180
  5. Candidates applying through Direct Entry must possess a minimum of 14 points from any of the following:
  6. IJMB / JUPEB A’ Level results: A B.Sc. degree in a cience-related field with a minimum of Second-Class Upper Division

Supporting Documents

  • JAMB UTME Notification of Results Slip: The original printout showing your score.
  • O’Level Results:
  • Original or certified copies of your WAEC/NECO/GCE results.
  • Requirement: A minimum of five (5) credit passes in the core science subjects (English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) obtained in one or two sittings.
  • Post-UTME Screening Slip: The printed confirmation slip proving registration and eligibility for the university's screening exercise.
  • Local Government Attestation Letter (Indigenes): Proof of being an indigene of the state (if required for specific admissions criteria).
  • Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age: Proof of meeting the minimum age requirement (usually 16 years old).
  • Letter of Good Conduct: A letter from a reputable person in society.
  • Passport Photographs: A specified number of recent passport-sized photographs (usually 4 copies).
  • Acceptance Fee Receipt: Proof of payment once admission is offered.

  • Candidates applying via Direct Entry (DE) typically need all the above, plus proof of their advanced qualification:
  • A-Level/JUPEB/IJMB Results: Statement of results showing passes in relevant subjects (Biology/Zoology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics) at the required point level.
  • B.Sc./HND/ND Result: Original or certified copies of your first degree or diploma certificate, along with a copy of your Official Academic Transcript from the previous institution, which must be verified.
  • NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate (for degree holders).

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  1. Candidates who possess first or upper second class division or equivalent classification from recognized universities shall normally be admitted to the Masters degree programmes (MSc, MPH, M.Med.).
  2. Candidates for admission into Ph.D on the basis of Masters Degree or its equivalent shall normally be expected to obtain an average score of B grade or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 in the course work.
  3. Candidates who fail to obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 shall terminate with a Masters degree.
  4. Candidates with a minimum score of n CGPA of 3.5 shall undertake a comprehensive examination to determine their competence and suitability for a Ph.D programme.
  5. In all cases, official transcripts of academic records as well as favourable reference reports shall accompany the application of prospective candidates for Ph.D programmes.

1. Pre-Application Checklist

2. Online Application Steps

  • Sign Up: Create a unique application profile by selecting the "Fresh Applicant, Sign Up" option on the portal.
  • Generate Invoice: Log into your profile and generate the official invoice for the required Application Fee.
  • Make Payment: Pay the non-refundable Application Fee securely online (via bank card or transfer). Print and keep the receipt.
  • Complete Form: Log back in to fill out all sections of the application form completely. This includes your personal history, O'Level details, and JAMB results.
  • Upload Documents: Upload clear, scanned copies of all necessary supporting documents (e.g., O'Level result, JAMB slip).
  • Final Submission: Review all entries, finalize the application, and print your completed form and registration slip.

3. Post-Application Process

  • Screening Notification: Await official communication from the university regarding the date, time, and venue for the compulsory Post-UTME Screening Test or interview.
  • Admission Status: Successful candidates will be offered provisional admission and must pay the Acceptance Fee to finalize their admission status.

History

Eko University of Medicine and Health Sciences (EkoUNIMED) was founded by Dr. Hammed Ayodele Ibraheem to address Nigeria's shortage of healthcare professionals. The university received its federal license in December 2017 after an approval process that began with initial visitation from the NUC in 2009.
