About

The federal University Dutse (FUD), received its charter, along with eight other newly established Federal Universities, from the federal Government of Nigeria on February 9, 2011. The University’s campus is located in the capital of Jigawa state, Dutse, an ancient town in the north western Nigeria. The University’s host town, Dutse, offers the charm of a small agricultural town, with easy access to major metropolitan areas such as Kano, Bauchi, Maiduguri, and Kaduna. The university recognizes the importance of its location in Dutse and seeks to link its research and teaching to the vast resources of these great metropolitan areas in the surrounding states.

FUD seeks to attract a diverse and international faculty and student body, to support research and teaching on global issues, and to create academic relationships with many universities and higher educational institutions in Nigeria and across the world. It expects all areas of the university to advance knowledge and learning at the highest level and to covey the products of its efforts to the community, the nation, and the world.

As a new federal government-owned institution, FUD offers a broad range of degree programs in the humanities, the natural and social sciences, and agriculture, in years to come, courses in management sciences, environmental studies, law, education, engineering, and medicine. FUD’s pioneer student body will be about 265 undergraduates. As a new university, it is committed to the best tradition of excellence. It aspires to be a teaching and research-intensive, technologically driven institution. FUD hopes to attract distinguished nationally and internationally known researchers, authors, scientist and scholars, and other fellows and members of professional association and academies who might help disseminate its vision of higher education, knowledge and service.

Mission

The Federal University Dutse exits to cultivate learning, develop knowledge, and foster free exchange of ideas. The University will focus on a strong tradition of distinguished scholarship, research, teaching, and service that is grounded in a commitment to increasing and disseminating scientific, humanistic, and social knowledge for the benefit of larger society. In this, FUD will strive to be a major research university with extensive graduate programs that are also dedicated to outstanding undergraduate and professional education. The University’s faculties and departments will be committed to the intellectual, cultural, and ethical development of students as citizens, scholars, and professionals. FUD graduates will be prepared to contribute a global society that requires leaders with creativity, integrity, and a dedication to service. Finally, FUD is committed to ideas that will make it to be recognized around the world as one of the best institutions of higher education.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

UTME Route:

  1. Successful completion of the UTME Examinations with an application for a course at Federal University Dutse.
  2. Attainment of a minimum aggregate score, as determined by the University, in subjects relevant to the chosen program.
  3. Possession of a minimum of Five (5) credit passes at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or equivalent, from either the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or the National Examinations Council (NECO), achieved in not more than two (2) sittings.
  4. Credits must include English and Mathematics.
  5. Registration and participation in a Post-UTME test conducted by the University.

Direct Entry (Part-time Degree Program) Route:

  1. Entry requirements encompass OND (with merit), NCE, IJMB (minimum of 8 points), GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits), and HND (Pass).
  2. Fulfillment of all necessary ‘O’ Level requirements applicable to regular full-time undergraduate admissions.
  3. Compulsory credit in English for all courses; Mathematics is necessary for science-based and social science courses.
  4. Submission of credentials for screening by holders of ‘A’ Level certificates.

  1. O'level results (with at least five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, and at least a pass in Mathematics)
  2. UTME screening results
  3. Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  1. All applicants must present their O’Level: Minimum of five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings 
  2. A first class or a Second Class honours degree of any university so recognized for the purpose by Senate of Benson Idahosa University or
  3. Any qualification deemed by the Senate is acceptable.

Confirm Eligibility

  • UTME applicants: Must have scored 150+ in UTME and selected FUD as your first choice. Also, have at least 5 O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics.
  • Direct Entry applicants: Must possess 7 points in IJMB/NCE or a Lower Credit in ND.
  • Complete the Online Screening
  • Visit the FUD Post-UTME/DE portal.

He was a Graduate Assistant at the department of Biological science, Bayero University Kano (1990 – 1992) and a lecturer (1990 to 1997), an Associate Professor at University Putra Malaysia (2006 – 2017) and now a Professor of Enzyme and Food Biotechnology at the department of Microbiology and Biotechnology.

Ahmed presented a number of papers at National and International Conferences, Workshops and Seminars. To his credit he published widely in peer review journals and chapters in many books. His Areas of Research Interest include Agricultural Information; Scholarly and Communication Sciences, ICTs, ICTs Applications in Libraries, Information Resources Sharing and Networks and Emerging Technologies.

    nded Dandago Special Primary School Kano from 1972 to 1979, from 1979 -1981 He proceeded to Ramat Unity College Yola under the National Exchange Programme (NEP), from 1981 – 1984 he attended Science Secondary School Hong. He attended Bayero University, Kano from 1986- 1992 for his undergraduate studies, where he obtained BSc (Physics). In 2005 he obtained MSc (Physics) in Bayero University, Kano. He also obtained PhD (Physics) in 2012 from the famous and premier University Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. His MSc and PhD dissertations were all computationally based, therefore in 2005 he enrolled in Cisco Academy for four (4) Semesters and obtained John Chamber’s award in all the Semesters. In May 2006 he sat for the CCNA Certification examination and scored 950 points out of 1000, hence qualified him to be a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
