The Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Delta State, Nigeria was established in March 2007 under a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative to build a specialized University to produce unique high level manpower and relevant expertise for the Oil & Gas sector in Nigeria and worldwide. It is a first of its kind in Africa and it is destined to be the premier international institution-of-choice with the state-of-the-art facilities to provide the petroleum and allied sectors, world class education, training, research, consultancy and extension services.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  • To be admitted into any of the departments in the Undergraduate programme, interested applicants must apply through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) body
  • Applicants must also have the required score for the admission session, having met the minimum 5 credit O’Level required by the department of interest in not more than two sittings in the GCE, SSCE, WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

General Admission Requirements 

  • All candidates shall satisfy the O’ Level requirements for matriculation into first degree programmes of the University. 
  • Five (5) credit passes in not more than two (2) sittings including English Language and Mathematics plus three (3) other relevant science subjects.

Applicants shall have one of the following qualifications:

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

  • Graduates of FUPRE and other approved universities with at least a third class degree.
  • Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) in relevant programmes from approved institutions.

Master Degree

  • A first degree with at least a second-class lower division from FUPRE or any other approved University.
  • A candidate with a qualification lower than second-class lower division but has an upper credit in the postgraduate diploma shall be considered for admission.

Doctor of Philosophy

An applicant must possess a Master degree with research dissertation and a weighted coursework average which shall normally not be less than 60% (B) or a minimum CGPA of 3.50. Additional requirements include

  • NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption Certificate or Exclusion Certificate is mandatory.
  • Applicants must request within six weeks of application, academic transcripts from their previous institutions to be sent directly to:

How To Apply For Admission

Step 1: Register for JAMB

  • Visit a JAMB CBT center and register for the UTME or Direct Entry (DE).
  • Choose FUPRE as your First Choice institution.
  • Select the correct UTME subject combination for your course.

Step 2: Sit for UTME

  • Write the JAMB exam and aim for the cut-off on your desired course

Step 3: Apply for FUPRE Post-UTME

  • After JAMB releases results, visit .
  • Generate an invoice and pay the Post-UTME screening fee 
  • You can make payment online using your ATM Card or at the Bank using RRR Number through Remita platform.
  • Carefully fill all the required fields, submit and print out your confirmation page.

Step 4: Write the Post-UTME Exam

  • FUPRE will invite you to write a screening test.
  • Monitor the portal or your email for your exam date and venue.

Step 5: Check Admission Status

  • Visit the FUPRE portal and JAMB CAPS to check if you’ve been offered admission.
  • Accept the offer on JAMB CAPS to confirm it.
  • Monitor your application status by logging in to your profile.

Step 6: Pay Acceptance Fee 

  • All newly admitted students must pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of N85,000 to secure their admission into FUPRE.

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Delta State, Nigeria was established in March 2007 under a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative to build a specialized University to produce unique high level manpower and relevant expertise for the Oil & Gas sector in Nigeria and worldwide.
