Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  1. Only UTME and DE candidates who subscribed to Federal University of Technology, Minna as first choice during JAMB are eligible for the screening exercise.
  2. UTME Candidates MUST have scored NOT LESS than the minimum scores for various Programmes.
  3. Candidates who are below 16 years of age as at 30th September, of the admission year are not eligible to apply.
  4. Candidates MUST meet the minimum UTME scores for their chosen courses and have the right UTME subject combinations as prescribed in the 2025 JAMB Brochure.
  5. Candidates are to pay a non-refundable fee of Two thousand Naira (N2,000.00) only through REMITA platform.
  6. Candidates who do not meet any of the course requirements will be allowed to change to any other course whose requirements are met by the candidates.
  7. All candidates must possess a minimum of five ‘O’ Level credits including Mathematics and English Language in subjects relevant to their proposed courses at not more than two sittings.  In addition, Direct Entry candidates must possess a minimum of Lower Credit at National Diploma and/or Higher National Diploma level(s) or Merit at NCE level.
  8. Direct Entry candidates in possession of HND are required to upload their NYSC discharge or exemption certificate

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

PhD programme

  1. . Candidates for admission for any of PhD Programme shall be Master Degree graduates of the Federal University of Technology, Minna or any other University recognized by the Senate or holders of equivalent qualifications acceptable to the University Senate.
  2. A Master Degree holder applying for  PhD Programme of the University must have maintained a weighted score average of 60% or a ‘B’ grade or a CGPA of 3.50 out of 5.00 in overall performance in the Master Degree programme.
  3.  Appropriate courses may be prescribed for candidates whose background is considered weak for the areas of specialization.  This is done at the discretion of the School/Department within the approved general regulations/guidelines of the Postgraduate School.

Master Degree Programmes

  1. A Minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree from Federal University of Technology, Minna or any other recognized University.
  2. A Third Class Honours Degree with at least 2 years graduation experience in relevant fields may be considered. In some areas, passing a qualifying examination to be administered by the Department of the candidates, in consultation with the Postgraduate School, may be required.
  3. Candidates with HND with a minimum of Lower Credit and a Postgraduate Diploma in relevant field with, at least a minimum of Lower Credit and one year graduation experience may be considered.
  4. Where examination is required as in the case of  (ii) and  (iii) above, an examination fee of N2000.00 will be charged outside the cost of Postgraduate application forms.

 Note:

  1. NYSC certificate or exemption letter is required for admission into all Postgraduate programmes.
  2. For avoidance of doubt, candidates with PASS grade at any level of Degree, PGD, HND and OND do not qualify for admission to the PhD/Master/PGD  Programmes.  No Diploma candidate with CGPA less than 2.50 qualifies for admission into the Master Degree Programmes.
  3. In all cases of admission, the final decision on qualified candidates rests with the Postgraduate School Board. Candidates with Science-based background are normally considered.
  4. All Master Degree Programmes require course work components in addition to research work components. There is no exemption. A Thesis must be defended and submitted for a student to qualify and graduate.

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

  1. A Third Class Honours Degree in relevant fields may be considered.
  2. Candidates with HND with a minimum of Lower Credit, OND Lower Credit in relevant field with one year graduation experience may be considered.

  • This will direct you to the login page for UTME or Direct Entry applicants.

Enter your login details

  • Input your JAMB registration number.
  • Enter any one of your names (e.g., surname or first name).
  • Click on ‘Login’ to continue.

Choose a course if needed

  • If your UTME or O'Level subject combinations do not meet the requirements for your original JAMB course, you may select another course from the list of available departments.

Click on ‘Proceed to payment gateway’

Review your information.

Click the ‘payment link’ button to move to the payment section.

Make your payment

You have two payment options:

  • Online payment using an ATM debit card: Enter your card number, expiry date, CVV (3-digit code at the back), and PIN.
  • Bank payment: Generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) from the application portal and pay at any commercial bank.

    After obtaining the Nigeria Certificate in Education from the Niger State College of Education, Minna (1987 - 1990), he proceeded to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1992 and graduated with a Bachelor of Library and Information Science degree in 1997.

    He was also at Bayero University, Kano (2002 - 2005) where he added a Masters Degree in Library Science. Saka bagged a Doctorate degree in Library and Information Studies, majoring in Library Management from the University of Maiduguri in 2014.

    The new University Librarian joined the Federal University of Technology, Minna as an Assistant Lecturer in August, 2005 and steadily progressed to the rank of Associate Professor in 2019. Dr. Saka, who has held several positions of authority in the University was Head of Department, Library and Information Technology, from 2015 to 2020.

History

The Federal University of Technology, Minna is a Federal Government owned University in Nigeria. It was established on 1st February, 1983. The objective for its establishment is to give effect to the Nation’s drive for the much-needed self-reliance in Science, Engineering and especially Technology. It is a specialized University of Technology.

The pioneer Vice-Chancellor was Professor J.O. Ndagi who served from 1983 to 1990. At inception, the University acquired on a permanent basis, the facilities of the former Government Teachers’ College, Bosso which now serves as the Bosso Campus of the University. a modern university. The University acquired 10,650 hectares of land at Gidan-Kwano, along the Minna – Kataeregi – Bida Road as its permanent site, to carter for the inevitable expansion envisaged.

And since then work had started in earnest for the physical development of the Main Campus which in phase I consists of the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT), School of Environmental Technology (SET), School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) Buildings, Students Hostels, Students Center, University Library, Senate Building, Staff houses, Computer Centre as well as the Industrial Development Centre.

The completion of students’ hostels, some staff houses, SET and SEET buildings facilitated the commencement of full academic activities in the Main Campus at the beginning of the 2004/2005 academic session. Meanwhile, SAAT which was temporarily occupying a part of the SEET Complex has been successfully completed and moved in 2009.
