About

The Federal University Otuoke (FUO) is one of the Federal Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in February 2011 in cognisance of the need to bridge the great divide between the educationally advantaged and disadvantaged sections of the country, especially areas where universities were lacking.  Cited in the serene and secure Otuoke Community, at the heart of the oil-rich Niger-Delta region of Bayelsa State, the University which is 21 kilometres south of the state capital Yenagoa, occupies an expanse of 200 hectares (494 acres).

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  1. Candidates who selected the Federal University Otuoke as their first choice in the JAMB UTME and chose any of the programmes listed in 9. below and scored a minimum of 150.
  2. Interested candidates who did not choose Federal University Otuoke as their first choice but wish to study in Federal University Otuoke and scored a minimum of 150 in the 2025/2026 JAMB UTME.
  3. Candidates in the second category above, must do a Change of Institution to Federal University Otuoke via JAMB website (www.jamb.org.ng) and choose any of the programmes offered

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

PGD Programmes:

  • All candidates must have five credits passes including English, Mathematics At the O’Level.
  • Candidates with Bachelors degree from an approved University must obtain a minimum of third-class degree in the relevant discipline.
  • Holders of HND in relevant programmes from approved institutions with a minimum of upper credit may be considered for admission.
  • Relevant Professional qualifications.

Master’s Degree Programmes:

  • The candidate should have obtained not less than a second-class lower division
  • Candidates with the relevant PGD at credit level pass (i.e 3.5) will be considered.

Master’s of Philosophy Degree Programmes:

  • An applicant for admission to the Master of Philosophy Degree Programmes shall be: 
  • A Bachelors degree holder from an approved university who possesses a First Degree and Master Degree in an area relevant to his course of study.

Doctor of Philosophy Degree Programmes

  • An applicant for admission to the Ph.D. Degree programme shall be:
  • A graduate of Federal University, Otuoke, or any other approved university who possesses a Master Degree with research thesis and a weighted coursework average which shall normally not less than CGPA of 3.5.

  • Use a Verve or Mastercard debit card (from any commercial bank) via Interswitch payment gateway

  • After successful payment, proceed to fill out the online application form with your correct details.

    He has worked in multicultural societies and among people with diverse backgrounds such as during a one-year TWAS-DBT postgraduate fellowship at Savitribai Phule Pune University, India and at Nelson Mandela University, South Africa. He is a member of a number of international scientific organizations and also a reviewer to some internationally peer-reviewed high-impact journals of Chemistry. He is the Faculty Advisor of the student chapter of the American Chemical Society at Federal University Otuoke.
