Kebbi State University of Science and Technology (KSUSTA), formerly known as KSUSTA, is a state-owned university in Aliero, Kebbi State, Nigeria. Established in 2006 and licensed as Nigeria's 79th university, KSUSTA offers programs in science, technology, and agriculture. It was established to address the growing number of qualified indigenes who could not gain admission into other Nigerian universities.

The Mission of the University is to rigorously pursue productive scientific and technological research leading to social, economic and political developments as well as the transformation of Kebbi State from an agricultural to an industrialized state.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

General Admission Requirements 

  • Candidates must meet the minimum entry requirements specified by the faculty they are applying to. 
  • Original copies and 2 photocopies of certificates/result slips, birth certificates, and letters confirming local government of origin must be submitted.

UTME (100 Level)

  • Applicants must have at least 5 relevant credits in SSCE (WAEC/NECO), NABTEB, TC II, GCE O/L or other recognized examinations, obtained at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry (200 Level)

  • Two A/L passes in relevant subjects and at least three O/L credits in other subjects, obtained at not more than two sittings.
  • Three A/L passes in relevant subjects and at least two O/L credits in other subjects, obtained at not more than two sittings. 
  • National Diploma or Diploma from a recognized Institution, with at least four O/L credits in SSCE/GCE or equivalent.

English Language Requirement

  • Candidates must have a credit in English Language at SSCE, GCE O/level or equivalent.
  • Alternatively, a pass in HSC A/L General Paper English Language or NCE General English, or credit in IJMB English Language can be accepted.


Mathematics Requirement

  • Candidates must have a credit in Mathematics at O level for all Science and Science-based courses. 
  • Alternatively, a credit grade in IJMB Basic Mathematics is acceptable.


Post-UTME Screening Examination: All UTME candidates must undergo a physical screening exercise at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero before they can be finally admitted into the University.
Special Note: 

  • All subjects passed must be selected from the approved list of subjects.
  • No subject may be counted at both ordinary and advanced levels.
  • Credit in Mathematics is required for all Science-based courses.
  • Credit in English Language is required for all courses.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

PGD

  • Graduates of KSUSTA or any other recognized University with minimum of 3rd class degree. 
  • Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND, not /HD) with minimum of Lower Credit or its equivalent in related ands. 
  • Holders of HND (not HD) in non related areas with minimum of Lower Credit. Such candidates may, however, be admitted after passing tests proscribed by the Department/Faculty in consultation with the Postgraduate School. 

Masters Degree

  • Graduates of KSUSTA or other recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelor’s degree with at least second class honours lower division or its equivalent. 
  • Candidates whose degrees are unclassified with average of "C' or 50%. 
  • Candidates with only Bachelor's degree in third division who have at least three years relevant working experience. 
  • Candidates who possess HND (not HD) with at least a Lower Credit pass from recognized institutions and at least Lower Credit pass at Postgraduate Diploma of KSUSTA of any other recognized institution in the relevant auras. 

Masters of Philosophy (M. Phil.) 

  • Graduates of KSUSTA and other recognized Universities re* have obtained good Masters Degrees with minimum GPA of not less than 3.5 on a 5 point scale or not less than 2.5 on a 4 point scale. 
  • Candidates with the degree of Professional Masters with minimum CPA of 3.5 on a 5 point scale and at least a Bachelor's degree not below third class division; the degrees of such candidates shad terminate at M. Phil. 
  • Candidates who have been recommended by their respective Departments to be upgraded from Masters to M. Phil. 
  • M. Phil. candidates who have Ph.D. in view must possess a minimum of second - class bachelor's degree. 

Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) 

The following shall qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission: 

  • Graduate of KSUSTA and other recognized Universities who have obtained good Masters Degree with GPA of 4.00 and above on a 5-point scale or 3.50 on a 4 - point scale appropriate to the proposed areas of study
  • Candidates whose Masters degree were through research only must have minimum of “B” grades or 60% score 
  • Candidate who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate school and Senate of the University.

  2. Click on the “More Information” button next to any course to view its admission requirements, application fee, duration, closing date, and academic session. 
  3. To apply, click on the “Apply Now” button. If you already have an account, select “Login with Google” and enter your username and password. 
  4. If you don’t have an account, click on “Sign Up” to create one. 
  5. Fill in the form with your details, including your full name, a valid email address, phone number, and password. 
  6. An activation code will be sent to your email. Enter the code in the designated boxes and click “Confirm.” 
  7. You will be redirected to the payment page to pay a non-refundable application fee of N2,000. Once your payment is successful, a preview of your application will appear. 
  8. Click “Proceed to Application Form.” Complete all required fields in each section of the application form. 
  9. Then click “Preview and Submit” to complete your application & print the completed online screening form for reference.

History

Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, was established in December 2006 through Kebbi State law No. 6. The need for a university in the state was based on the growing number of qualified indigenes who could not gain admission into Nigerian universities due to limited capacity. The former Governor of Kebbi State, Senator (Dr) Muhammad Adamu Aliero (Garkuwan Gwandu), led the initiative to establish the state University.
