Reasons to Study at Norwich University of the Arts

  1. Gold Rated Education

Our teaching, learning, and student experience are outstanding, recognised with a triple gold rating from the Office for Students in the 2023 national assessment (Teaching Excellence Framework). Blending academic excellence and countless opportunities for personal growth and unforgettable memories, we offer a student experience like no other.

  2. Here, You're a Name, not a Number

At Norwich, you’re a valued member of a community where the lecturers know your name. This is a place where everyone matters. A place for all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. It’s no coincidence that “community” is the word most of our students use to describe Norwich. From day one, you’ll meet new friends and discover new experiences.

  3. Project Based Practical Learning

Our students tackle real-world problems through hands-on, practical projects. Working in teams or individually, students identify challenges, design solutions and refine their work through feedback. This method builds critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills but also provides deeper subject understanding and practical knowledge helping you to excel in the workplace with confidence and creativity.

  4. Assessment-Based Learning

At Norwich University of the Arts, we are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that embraces diverse learning styles. That’s why all our courses are 100% assessment-based, with no formal exams. Instead, we use alternative assessment methods such as essays, presentations, and practical projects, allowing you to showcase your skills and knowledge in ways that best suit you.

continued to develop algorithms using different software languages including most recently, Processing. My two current interests lie in investigating small variations in repeating patterns that disrupt and intrigue, and in creating patterns with organic resonance that transcend their digital origins. My work has been exhibited across the UK and cited in articles and books on contemporary textile design.

Extending awareness and promoting innovation in textile design is something I feel strongly about. I conceived and organised the Fabricating Technology symposium in Edinburgh and the Repeat Symposium in Norwich to engage a wide audience with the possibilities of contemporary creativity in textiles.

I supervise and examine PhD students within textiles and the wider areas of design, including topics such as the second-hand clothing industry in Korea; the role of the designer educator in developing textiles; and the haptic and scopic qualities of textiles.
