Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), formerly known as Ogun State University, is a state-owned institution located in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria. Established in 1982, the university was renamed in 2001 to honor Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, the then civilian governor of Ogun State, whose efforts led to its founding. OOU operates a multi-campus system with faculties spread across various locations in the state, including the main campus in Ago-Iwoye, and others in Sagamu, Ibogun, and Aiyetoro.

Objectives

The main goal of the Olabisi Onabanjo University is summarized in its motto: "Excellentia Humana et Patriae opus"; that is, the "Flowering of Human Abilities and Service to the Fatherland". In pursuance of this main goal, the University has set for itself the accomplishment of the following objectives:

1. To provide facilities for learning and to give instruction and training in such branches of knowledge as the University may desire to foster and by doing so enable students to obtain the advantage of liberal education.

2. To promote, by research and other means, the advancement of knowledge and its practical applications to social, political, cultural, scientific, and technological problems.

3. To serve as a custodian, promoter, and propagator of the social and cultural heritage of Ogun State.

4. To stimulate and sustain interest in agriculture.

5. To serve the society as a professional and intellectual resource.

6. To undertake any other activities appropriate to a University and such other things that are incidental or conducive to the above objectives.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

A. General Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) credit passes in O’Level (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB).
  • Must include English Language and Mathematics.
  • Results must be obtained in not more than two sittings.
  • Must have scored at least 160 and above in JAMB UTME.
  • Must select Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) as first choice in JAMB.
  • Participate in the OOU Post-UTME Screening Exercise.

B. Direct Entry Requirements

  • Minimum of two A-Level passes in relevant subjects.
  • Or possession of OND, HND, NCE, or JUPEB with at least Lower Credit.
  • Must apply through JAMB Direct Entry.
  • Official academic transcripts must be forwarded to the Registrar.

  1. JAMB UTME Result Slip.
  2. O’Level Certificate(s) or Statement of Result.
  3. Birth Certificate or Age Declaration.
  4. Certificate of State or Local Government Origin.
  5. Passport Photographs (four copies).
  6. Post-UTME Screening Slip.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

A. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least Third Class or HND (Upper Credit) in related discipline.
  • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate required.

B. Master’s Degree (M.Sc., MBA, M.Ed., MA)

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of Second Class Lower Division in related field.
  • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate.
  • Must submit official academic transcript.

C. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

  • Master’s degree with minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale.
  • Two academic reference letters required.
  • Submission of research proposal on intended area of study.

  • Pay the Post-UTME Screening Fee via the online platform or designated banks.
  • Fill in personal, academic, and JAMB details.
  • Upload required documents and passport photo.
  • Submit the form and print Acknowledgment Slip.
  • Attend the Post-UTME Screening at designated center.

Postgraduate Application

  • Access the School of Postgraduate Studies portal.
  • Create an applicant profile.
  • Pay the non-refundable application fee online or at approved banks.
  • Complete and submit the online form with all required uploads.
  • Ensure that academic transcript is sent directly to the Postgraduate School.
  • Await invitation for screening or interview.
