Osun State University is set up as a conventional, multi-campus University charged with the production of high quality, well–rounded, globally competitive and entrepreneurial graduates who are catalysts for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development of Osun State and Nigeria.

Following the approval by the National University commission on December 21, 2006, Osun State University (UNIOSUN) became the 30th State University and 80th in the Nigerian University system. Osun State University is a conventional University envisioned to be a centre of excellence through the provision of highly qualitative teaching and learning experiences which will engender the production of well-rounded entrepreneurial graduate capable of impacting positively on their environments while also being globally competitive.

Hence, our mission at UNIOSUN is to create a unique institution commited to the pursuit of academic innovation,skill-based training and a tradition of excellence in Teaching,Research and Community service.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

For admission into any of the first degree programmes of the University, a candidate shall be required to meet the Faculty and Departmental admission requirements as stipulated in the individual Faculty . In addition to the Faculty requirements, the candidate should possess the following minimum qualifications:

  1. A candidate for admission into the 100 level must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s University Matriculation Examination.
  2. Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level, must have two (2) Advanced Level passes or approved equivalents in addition to credit level passes in three other subjects at the SSCE or its equivalents.
  3. In all admissions into the University, credit level pass in English Language is required. In addition, credit level pass in Mathematics is required for all science- based, Social Sciences and Management Science courses.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

General Admission Requirements

Candidates seeking for admission into postgraduate programmes must be a graduate of Osun State University or any other University or graduates of any other institutions such as polytechnics approved by Senate. In addition, all candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes, in English Language and four other relevant subjects, obtained at not more than two sittings, except for programmes in the Faculty of Law where the entry requirement at the Bachelor’s degree level specifies a minimum of 5 credit passes at one sitting. Candidates with ‘O’ Level Examination results obtained up till 2018 must present original copies of their certificates for screening as their Statements of Results and/or Result Slips will not be accepted.

Postgraduate Diploma Programme

Candidates seeking admission into the Postgraduate Diploma Programme must possess a minimum of third class in the Bachelor’s degree programme or a minimum of Lower credit at the Higher National Diploma (H.N.D.).

Master’s Degree Programme

Academic and Professional Master’s Degree

Candidates seeking admission into the academic and professional master degree programmes must meet any of the following criteria.

  1. Candidates applying for academic Master`s Degree Programmes must have a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) in the Bachelor`s Degree Programmes.
  2. Candidates with Third Class Bachelor’s Degree and Postgraduate diploma in relevant programmes with not less than 60.00% weighted average.
  3. Candidates with a minimum of lower credit in Higher National Diploma (H.N.D.) and Postgraduate Diploma in relevant programmes with not less than 60.00% weighted average.
  4. Candidates with lower degree classification may be considered for Professional Master only.

Ph.D. Degree Programme

Candidates seeking admission into Ph.D. Programmes must be holders of Master`s Degree with a minimum score of 60.00% weighted average or CGPA of 3.50 in their Master degree Programmes.

M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree Programme

  1. Candidates with a minimum score of 55.00% weighted average and above or CGPA of 3.00 at Master’s level can apply for admission into the MPhil/Ph.D. Programmes. 
  2. The programme runs for a minimum of one session after which the candidate can transit to the Ph.D. programme. 
  3. Candidates in this category are eligible for conversion to Ph.D. programme, following a conversion examination report to be made by a Panel of Examiners at the end of the first session of registration.  
  4. Candidate must score not less than 60% (aggregate) at the end of the first session to be eligible for conversion for the Ph.D. Programme.

How To Apply For Admission

COMPLETION OF APPLICATION FORMS

Candidates are to register on-line by accessing the University website: https://www.uniosun.edu.ng or https://admissions.uniosun.edu.ng to complete and submit an application. They are expected to print two (2) copies of the application form after submission.

DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES

Direct Entry candidates should complete the form on-line by accessing the University website: https://www.uniosun.edu.ng or https://admissions.uniosun.edu.ng and submit an application and ensure that they read the admission requirements of the university before applying to any of its programme. They are also expected to forward their Academic Transcripts to the Registrar of Osun State University.

All Direct Entry candidates including those on UNIOSUN (IJMB, JUPEB) Programme, who wish to be considered for admission for the academic session must have obtained Direct Entry Form from JAMB. They must also apply for the screening exercise.

ELIGIBILITY

UNIOSUN will admit only candidates who made at least five (5) Credit Passes in SSCE/NECO/NABTEB in the relevant subjects at not more than two sittings except for Medicine, Nursing and Law, where candidates are expected to have at least five (5) credit passes in SSCE/NECO in the relevant subjects at one sitting. The University may accept minimum of Lower credit for Direct Entry candidates.

Candidates should meticulously provide their details on the University Portal. Any candidate that supplies false information would be prosecuted by law enforcement agencies and the admission of such candidate withdrawn once discovered. Any fee paid by any candidate that falsifies record/document will NOT be refunded. Candidates awaiting results should supply it within one week of release. Any candidate who fails to participate in the screening exercise will not be considered for admission.

CENTRAL ADMISSION PROCESSING SYSTEM (CAPS)

The Admission Exercise will be based on Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), a system designed by Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) to automate the admissions process to tertiary institutions. All candidates are advised to upload their O' Level results to the JAMB CAPS portal as a pre-condition for admission.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION

All candidates who eventually get admitted will undergo mandatory medical examination, which includes screening for drug use.

  2. This will take you to the online Application Platform. Ensure you read all registration guidelines and instructions carefully before proceeding to register.
  3. Payments of Three Thousand Naira (N3,000.00) only as Portal Access Fee and Two Thousand Naira (N2,000.00) only for the Post UTME Screening is through the Remita Web PAY Platform using your ATM Cards (Master Card, Verve Card and REMITA enabled Cards.)

As a Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Oguntunde served as College Secretary for the College of Health Sciences at Osun State University from 2012 to 2015 and again from 2018 to 2024. Her leadership proved crucial in re-establishing the College's administration after a dispute over ownership between Oyo and Osun State. Mrs. Oguntunde played a significant role in introducing computerized processes at LAUTECH, facilitating the digitization of transcript processing, e-publication of admission and matriculation lists, and the electronic production of certificates.

elopment of Osun State and Nigeria. Although the university is intended to be a conventional university, it shall optimise the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in its teaching, learning and research activities.
