SRUC has six campuses across Scotland – Aberdeen, Ayr, Barony, Elmwood, King’s Buildings and Oatridge. Students study land based courses from further education to postgraduate level and degrees are currently awarded by the University of Edinburgh or the University of Glasgow depending on the course of study.

FOR UNDERGRADUATE: Those wishing to study an undergraduate course full-time have to apply through UCAS.

  • Library: SRUC has Libraries or Learning Commons at all its campuses. Each site has a full collection of books and journals focused on the subjects taught at that campus. You may borrow books and use the facilities at all campus Libraries or Learning Commons. Access to electronic resources is provided for staff and students registered at the institution only.
  • Laboratory: SRUC has several laboratories, including a Veterinary and Analytical Laboratory for disease surveillance, a Biomarkers Laboratory for animal and veterinary research, and a Containment Level 2 Microbiology Laboratory. It also has specialized facilities like a mobile meat laboratory and a "living laboratory" garden for agronomy and soil testing.
  • Research Center: SRUC manages six research farms to provide research, education and knowledge transfer resources linked primarily to its applied research programme.

History

SRUC's history stretches back to 1899 with the establishment of the West of Scotland Agricultural College and its current organisation came into being through a merger of smaller institutions.

After the West of Scotland Agricultural College was established in 1899, the Edinburgh and East of Scotland College of Agriculture and the Aberdeen and North of Scotland College of Agriculture were both established in the early 20th century.
