“Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED, pronounced TARSUD), established on 29th January 2005 by the administration of His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, is a unique tertiary institution in the country. Apart from being the first of its kind in Nigeria, she also shares a unique feature as the only institution in the country that offers both the Bachelor’s degree programmes in education (B.Ed.) and trains National Certificate of Education (NCE) graduates within the same academic environment.”

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

FOR UTME 4-YEAR PROGRAMME

1. WAEC/NECO Senior School Certificate (SSC), General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O’Level), or their equivalents with credits in five (5) subjects obtained at one sitting or six (6) credits at not more than two sittings. National Technical Certificate/National Business Certificate (NTC/NBC) is acceptable for Vocational courses only.

FOR DIRECT ENTRY 3-YEAR PROGRAMME

1. Nigeria Certificate in Education (N.C.E.) with at least Merit in 2 core subjects, GCE A’Level, HND (for some courses) in relevant areas with at least Upper credit, Cambridge (A level) Certificate, Academic Diploma from recognized Universities (for some courses) (in relevant areas) are required in addition to (1) for Direct Entry. Advanced National Technical/Business Certificate (ANTC, ANBC) is acceptable for Vocational courses only.

Supporting Documents

1. Your O-Level certificate(s) – e.g., WAEC, NECO, NABTEB with 5 credits (or 6 over two sittings) including English Language.
2. For UTME entry: Your JAMB/UTME result slip and evidence of choosing TASUED as first choice.
3. Birth certificate or sworn declaration of age. 
4. State of Origin / Local Government certificate or proof of indigene status (often required).
5. Recent passport-sized photographs. 
6. If you are a Direct Entry candidate: your NCE, OND, HND or equivalent certificate/qualification. 
7. Acceptance fee receipt, application/registration fee receipts, other proof of payment (for those admitted).

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

1. Postgraduate Diploma Programme

Candidates seeking admission into the Postgraduate Diploma Programme should possess a minimum ofThird Class in the Bachelor’s Degree or minimum of Lower Credit at the Higher National Diploma (HND).

First Degree holders irrespective of class of degree who are currently teaching or intend to take teaching as a profession.

HND graduates irrespective of class of grade who are currently teaching or intend to take teaching as profession.

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Education combined with Master in Education Programme (PGDE/M.Ed)

The programme is designed for candidates without background in Education who may wish to pursue M.Ed. programme. The two certificates will be issued concurrently at the end of the M.Ed. Programme.

3. Master’s Programmes:

a) Graduates of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun or other Universities recognized by the UniversitySenate who have obtained the approved Bachelor’s Degree with at least Second Class Honours (LowerDivision) in the field of study.

b) Candidates with Third Class Bachelor’s Degrees and Postgraduate Diploma in the same subject.

c) Candidates with HND (Minimum of Lower CREDIT) and Postgraduate Diploma in the course applied for.

4. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

a) Every candidate must have a Master’s degree in his/her area of specialization with a minimum CGPA of 4.0 or 60%.

b) Holders of M.Phil. Degree in his/her area of specialization.

c) Those who have CGPA of 3.50 – 3.99 or 55% and above in Master’s degree programme can apply.

d) Candidates in (c) above will have to go through a conversion process into Ph.D. programme.

D. SPECIAL COURSE REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates wishing to study Educational Management at Master’s degree level must have credit in English Language, Mathematics and Economics at the WAEC/ NECO SSCE or GCE Ordinary Level. They must also have a certificate in Education.

2. Candidates wishing to study Guidance and Counseling Psychology at Master’s degree level must have credit pass in English Language and Mathematics at WAEC/ NECO SSCE or GCE Ordinary Level. They must also have Certificate in Education

3. Candidates wishing to study Educational and Media Technology at Master’s degree level must have credit in English Language and Mathematics at the WAEC/NECO SSCE or GCE Ordinary Level. Candidates must also have a Certificate in Education.

4. Candidates wishing to study Educational Evaluation at Master’s degree level must have credit in English Language and Mathematics at the WAEC/ NECO SSCE or GCE Ordinary Level.

5. Pass degree with 3 years cognate working experience is acceptable for Postgraduate Diploma in English.

6. Candidate wishing to study Business Education at Master’s level must have credit pass in English and Mathematics at WAEC/NECO SSCE, GCE O’L or NABTEB

7. For Science and other Mathematics related courses, a credit pass in Mathematics at the WAEC/NECO SSCE or GCE Ordinary Level is compulsory.

Supporting Documents

1. O-Level certificate showing required credits (including English Language, and often Mathematics) for certain programmes. 
2. Bachelor’s degree certificate (or HND where applicable) from a recognized institution.
3. Academic transcripts of your undergraduate degree (and postgraduate where relevant) forwarded as required. 
4. NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate (for Nigerian applicants), this is specifically required for TASUED postgraduate admission.
5. Birth certificate or declaration of age. 
6. Passport photograph. 
7. If your name has changed (e.g., by marriage), a Marriage Certificate or evidence of change of name.

3. From the list of Open Admission for the different Study Programme(s) that is/are run by the Institution, Select the Study Programme of your choice to list out the Open Application list.
4. Click on the Apply button corresponding to your choice of Open Application for the selected Study Programme
5. Fill out the Account Creation form with your basic information. Ensure that your email address that is specified is valid and accessible. Click on the ‘Create Account’ button to submit the form. A mail is sent to your specified email address.
6. Note: If you have created an Account before, DO NOT fill out the Account Creation Form again. Rather, click on the ‘Return to Login Page’ button to log in with your existing Username & Password and use the Admission module within your Student profile to Fill out the Application Form.
7. Check your email address and click on the Validation link to authenticate your User Account and continue with your Application process. Note: Ensure you Change your Password from the Edit Profile and also Enable 2FA on your profile, for additional security.
8. Go to the login page and use the Username and Password specified in the email to continue your application process with payment for the Application Fee and subsequent access to Fill the Application Form.

Establishment of institutions is a product of many factors which include significantly the prevailing socio-political circumstances at the time of their birth. The story of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun via Ijebu Ode is not particularly different from this basic assumption.
