Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), formerly Katsina State University, was established by the Katsina State Government in 2006 to serve as a nucleus for socio-economic, technological, and political development of the State by producing highly skilled human resources through conventional face-to-face and distance learning modes.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  1. For UTME entry: You must have five (5) credit passes at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.
  2. For DIRECT ENTRY: In addition to O-Level credits, candidates may need relevant A-level/HSC/NCE or ND qualification (with lower credit) depending on course.

Supporting Documents

  1. O-Level result(s) – original and photocopies (SSCE/WAEC/NECO) showing the required credit passes.
  2. JAMB/UTME result slip (for UTME entry) and admission letter/offer when required.
  3. Local Government/State of Origin certificate 
  4. Recent passport-sized photographs.
  5. Birth certificate or declaration of age.
  6. Completed application form (online or paper as applicable).
  7. Payment/receipt of application or screening fee
  8. For direct entry: certificate/qualification (NCE, ND, A-level) as required for your course.
  9. Other documents as specified by the department or faculty for your chosen programme (e.g., subject combinations, extra tests).

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  1. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree (for most programmes) from a recognised university, often with a minimum class such as Second Class Lower. 
  2. For Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programmes: Graduates of recognised universities or HND holders (with minimum lower credit) may qualify. 
  3. Applicants must satisfy the matriculation requirement for the programme: typically five relevant credit passes at O-level including English & Mathematics.
  4. For Master’s/PhD: there may be a requirement to submit a research synopsis, state your proposed area of research.

Supporting Documents

  1. Completed application form (online via portal) and payment of the application fee (e.g., N10,500).
  2. Academic transcripts from previous institutions: soft copies or hard copies forwarded by your institution to the Secretary, College of Postgraduate Studies, UMYU.
  3. Bachelor’s degree certificate (and for HND applicants, the HND certificate).
  4. O-Level result certificate showing the required credit passes (including English & Maths).
  5. Research proposal or synopsis (for those entering research-based programmes) – UMYU mentions a minimum of 500 words for proposed topic.
  6. Passport-sized photographs.
  7. State of Origin/Indigene certificate (if particularly required).
  8. Payment of any required screening/entrance exam fee.
  9. Evidence of election/selection (screening results) where applicable.
  10. Additional documents as may be required by specific faculties/departments (e.g., professional qualification, work experience, reference letters).

  2. On successful payment, log on to your profile and edit your application profile (This will require your recent passport photograph and your biodata).
  3. Print your Screening Acknowledgement Details.

  5. Login to pay for acceptance fee.
  6. Login to print your Admission Letter and other forms
