Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  • GCSE English (Language) and Maths at grade 4 (grade C) or equivalent
  • If you are unsure if your qualification is equivalent or if you wish to check if you meet the entry requirements for this course, please call 0121 214 2919 or email [email protected] 
  • 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English (Language or Literature), with GCSE Maths at a minimum of grade 5/B

  • You may be required to provide a reference from a previous education provider or employer in support of your application.
  • School applicants will be required to provide a good school report, which must include attendance. This will be assessed in conjunction with your qualifications and application during the confirmation of your place at University College Birmingham.

UCB Direct allows prospective full-time and part-time students who are only interested in applying to University College Birmingham, to apply directly to us (free of charge) without having to complete lengthy, and sometimes complex, application forms.

To apply direct to University College Birmingham, you must satisfy the following criteria:

  • You only wish to apply to University College Birmingham (if you would like to apply to more than one institution, you must apply via UCAS)
  • You must not have previously applied through UCAS this year (we will complete this on your behalf)

 

Applying through UCAS:

If you would like to apply for more than one university then you must apply through UCAS. This service is available to Home, EU and Overseas applicants.

In addition, University College Birmingham offers support workshops for applicants applying for Higher Education who are not familiar with the UCAS process. Workshops cover entry requirements and more.

Students have a maximum of five choices so we recommend you write a list of all the courses that interest you and then evaluate each option.   • Accommodation: More than 800 students can be accommodated in our halls of residence, and to help you adjust, in your first year, you are guaranteed a place in The Maltings. If you submit your accommodation payment in full before the deadline. You can also receive a 15% rent discount.
     You’ll be part of a friendly campus surrounded by supermarkets, banks, cafés, student budget restaurants and rail and coach stations, and living in one of Britain’s most exciting and diverse cities.

 

  • Gym: University College Birmingham has a range of gym facilities which are open to students and staff, offering a wide variety of equipment to help you keep fit on campus and in our halls of residence.

We have two state-of-the-art gyms located at Moss House and The Maltings, a dedicated gym for our college students at Summer Row, as well as a sports hall which is available for students to book (government restrictions apply)

 

  • ICT: As part of our investment into our campuses and facilities at University College Birmingham, we have continued to boost our IT provision with new computers and quiet study and self-study laptop areas across campus. IT Support is available from any of the IT Support Services helpdesks located around the University, they can be found on the ground floors of McIntyre House, Summer Row, Camden House and Baskerville House. Students enrolled at the University may contact the helpdesks for technical support concerning any problems.

 

  • Library: Located at Baskerville House, the Library is available on the Ground Floor and gives access to multiple computers in quiet study spaces. This fantastic facility gives you the opportunity to work late into the night at times that suit you.

 

  • Hospital: Our health simulation facilities allow students on our health and social care, nursing and physiotherapy courses to gain vital experience of the range of settings you are likely to encounter in real life. We have a brand new Health Skills and Simulation Suite at our Moss House campus, featuring a range of excellent facilities including a six-bed hospital ward to help you practice individual skills.

  • Cafeteria: At University College Birmingham, we have our own award-winning training restaurant where our students gain hands-on industry experience working both in the kitchens and front of house.

Restaurant at Birmingham College of Food (formerly known as The Atrium and The Brasserie) offers both exceptional à la carte dishes as well as an amazing value set menu, and enjoys a great reputation with the public and professionals alike.
