The University of Abuja (UniAbuja), established in 1988, is a dual-mode university offering both conventional and distance learning programs. It is the only federal university in the heart of Nigeria and is known as the University for National Unity. UniAbuja has a main campus along Abuja-Airport Road and a mini campus in Gwagwalada.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  • You must meet the general cut-off mark of 180 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
  • Register for the university's Post-UTME screening exercise. 
  • In addition to the JAMB requirement, you need the required O'Level (e.g., WAEC, NECO) subjects for your chosen course.
  • Potentially a Direct Entry qualification like NCE, OND, or HND, depending on the entry pathway. 

Supporting Documents

  1. Original WAEC/NECO results (or equivalent)
  2. Proof of state of origin
  3. Birth certificate or age declaration
  4. Admission letter
  5. Proof of acceptance fee payment for the screening process. 

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  • At least five O-Level credits including English and Mathematics in two sittings
  • A relevant Bachelor's degree for Master's (minimum Second Class Lower)
  • A Master's degree with a 60% average for a PhD. 
  • Additionally, you must pay a non-refundable application fee and submit required documents like academic transcripts and the NYSC certificate.

  1. O'Level results (with at least five credit passes, including English and Mathematics)
  2. NYSC discharge certificate
  3. Any other documents mentioned in your acceptance letter or the admission requirements.  

How To Apply For Admission

Undergraduate Application Procedure

  1. Visit http://portal.uniabuja.edu.ng and click on “Click here to apply”
  2. Click Undergraduate link on the left pane
  3. Enter your JAMB Registration Number and Click on “Get details”
  4. Complete the basic information page (Please note: Enter only valid phone number and email address and click next.
  5. On the payment review page, click on “Generate RRR” and this takes you to another page
  6. Click “Submit” and you will be redirected to remita payment page.
  7. Enter ATM card (Mastercard or Visa) number and other details as appropriate and submit
  8. Enter "OTP code" sent to your phone and click continue to complete your payment.
  9. After a successful payment, click on “Main login” on the portal, enter your Jamb registration number and Surname as password
  10. Click on “Login to dashboard” and complete your registration.
  11. Ensure you print completed registration form, payment receipt and exam schedule

NOTE: You can always requery your payment attempt in case you have been debited and network fails while completing your payment. Enter your JAMB registration number, click "Get details", then requery your unsuccessful payment attempt as shown below

Postgraduate Application Procedure

  1. Visit https://portal.uniabuja.edu.ng
  2. Click on “Click here to apply
  3. On the left pane, click on Postgraduate
  4. Enter the requested details (surname, firstname, othername, email and phone number) and click Next
  5. On the payment preview page, click on Generate RRR
  6. Click make payment and you will be redirected to remita platform, enter your card details (Master Card or Visa Card)
  7. After a successful payment, you will be redirected back to the portal and application number generated and you will be logout out
  8. Click on "Main Login", enter the generated application number and surname as password to continue the application process
