Supporting Documents

  • Copies of all of your qualifications to date (for example, your high school diploma, first degree certificate and full transcripts). If you have not yet completed your first degree, you can still apply.
  • Two references, at least one of which must be from an academic who has taught you.
  • A copy of the information page of your current passport (inform them immediately if you get a new passport at any time before you go to the UK to study).
  • A copy of any previous or current UK visa.
  • Any English language qualification you have (for example, IELTS or PTE Academic). See the English language requirements on the country information sheets for details of other tests accepted.
  • Your curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé detailing relevant work experience, if you feel it will contribute to your application.

  • Library: The Library building has 1,200 study spaces, with good power sockets accessibility plus guest wifi access, and the friendliest café on campus.  The Frontline team of staff manage the Library space and facilities, and provide first point of contact help and support for all Library users.
  • Accommodation: The halls of residence are located on campus, or within the nearby Student Village – only a few minutes’ walk from both University facilities and the city centre.
  • Sports: With almost 50 different sports clubs, you can get involved in a huge variety of activities including rowing, kickboxing, stand up paddleboarding, clay pigeon shooting, golf, Jui Jitsu, dodgeball and archery. 
  • Gym: Whether you are student at the University of Plymouth, a member of staff, or a member of the public, the SU Gym offers a range of memberships to suit you.

History

Plymouth School of Navigation was first established under the science and art regime. In 1962, the School of Navigation was renamed Plymouth's College of Technology, and was granted polytechnic status in 1970. 1988 saw the amalgamation of Rolle College of Education (Exmouth) and Exeter college of Art and Design with Plymouth Polytechnic. The Seale-Hayne Agricultural College merging in 1989; this merge created the Polytechnic South West.
