It was established in 1975 as University College, Port Harcourt and was given university status in 1977. Undergraduate Admission Requirement

Admission Requirements For the Degree Programmes 

  • Holders of WAEC/SSCE, GCE O’ Level or their equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects, (including English and Mathematics) are eligible to apply.

Admission Requirements For the Direct Entry into the Part Time Degree Programmes 

Direct Entry Requirements: 

  • Candidate must have at least two A/Level passes in HSC, GCE or JUPEB, NCE/Diploma with (Upper credit) in relevant subjects from any recognized institutions in addition to five credit passes in WAEC/SSCE, NECO, GCE “O” Level or their equivalent

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  1. Post Graduate Diploma (PGD): Applicants should have an appropriate university first degree or Higher National Diploma with Upper Credit
  2. Master Programme: Candidates would be required to have a bachelor’s degree with grade of second class lower
  3. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme: Eligible candidates should have completed an MSc degree in appropriate majors, with a CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.

How To Apply For Admission

  1. Eligible candidates are to input UTME Registration Number and confirm pre-loaded UTME details.
  2. Generate Remita code for payment with your master, visa or verve card etc OR Print out Payment Slip and proceed to any of the following Banks with Remita platform (ACCESS BANK PLC, ECOBANK PLC, FIDELITY BANK PLC, FIRST BANK PLC, FCMB, UBA PLC, AND UNIPORT-CHOBA MICROFINANCE BANK) and make payment of N2,000.00 only.
  3. Obtain a Remita receipt showing an Access Code from the Bank teller confirming the payment.
  4. Proceed back online and Login with your UTME Registration Number and the Access Code on the payment slip.
  5. Complete the Form online as requested. requested. Candidates who are awaiting their O’Level Result(s) should so indicate.
  6. Upload your passport photograph with red background not more than 1 x 1 inch. (if requested)
  7. Click on the “submit button” and print Photo Card for the Screening Exercise clearance. Reprint Photo Card a day to the examination.
  8. Registration is online, therefore, candidates are not expected to be present physically on the University Campus, but advised to register from any location.
  9. - Inconsistency in name or picture on Registration Slip is not acceptable to the University and may lead to disqualification of affected candidates. Candidates’ names on their O’Level Certificates, UTME Results and other registration documents must be the same.
  10. - Candidates MUST be sixteen (16) years of age or above by September 2025, to be eligible for the exercise.
  11. Candidates must ensure that their O’Level results are uploaded to JAMB website as soon possible as those who do not, will not be considered for admission.
  12. Note the date and time of Screening on the Photo Card.
  13. Candidates must ensure that they register with their own valid personal telephone (GSM) numbers and email addresses.
  14. When the Screening Exercise is scheduled, Candidates must report to the designated Screening Venues as scheduled or risk disqualification.
  15. Candidates who chose the University as second choice and wish to be considered for admission can apply for the Screening Exercise ONLY when they have made a change to the University of Port Harcourt as their First Choice.
  16. Ensure to Reprint your Photo Card a day to the examination.

    He joined the services of the University of Port Harcourt in 1997 as Accountant 11 and rose through the ranks to the position of Acting Bursar, the position he occupies till date.

Had her M.Ed and Ph.D in Educational Psychology Guidance & Counselling in 2011 & 2019 respectively.She joined the service of the University of Port Harcourt in the year 1994 after she was done with her NYSC at the University Demonstration Secondary School (UDSS).

    She rose through the ranks to the Position of Deputy Registrar in the 2018 and subsequently appointed substantive Registrar of the University of Port Harcourt.

In 2006, Prof. Emasealu joined the services of the University of Port Harcourt as an academic librarian in Donald Ekong Library, University of Port Harcourt. Between 2006 and 2019, she served as Faculty Librarian in the Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities; Reference Librarian, Donald Ekong Library; Research Librarian at the Institute of Petroleum Studies, College of Health Sciences Librarian, and Reader Services Librarian. She was the Acting Head, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Port Harcourt from 2019-2021. She was promoted to the rank of Reader in 2019. He obtained B.Sc (ed) Calabar (1988), M.Ed (1997) and Ph.D (2005) in Educational Administration, University of Port Harcourt. Appointed Lecturer II in University of Port Harcourt in November 2, 2005.
