Undergraduate Admission Requirement

 You usually need two A-levels or an equivalent qualification such as:

  • A BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma
  • International Baccalaureate
  • Irish Highers
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma
  • T Levels.

However, there are other paths to entry – read on for more info.

Course-specific requirements

  • We use the UCAS Tariff system to make offers to applicants. You can use the UCAS Tariff Calculator to convert your qualifications and grades into points.
  • General Studies and AS-level subjects (not taken onto full A2) can be included towards your overall tariff score.
  • For some courses, we require specific subjects and grades. These are listed on each course entry.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

Check the course page for requirements. The Entry tab on the course listing for your course explains what you’ll need to be eligible to apply. Sometimes there are specific requirements – like undergraduate study in a specific subject or related professional experience – so it’s worth checking carefully.

How To Apply For Admission

If you’re a UK or EU applicant interested in full-time undergraduate degrees or foundation degrees, you need to apply online through UCAS. It’s really straightforward and you’ll be guided through each step. Even if you want to join us in the second or third year, you still need to apply via UCAS.

 

POSTGRADUATE: 

There are three straightforward steps to follow:

  1. Choose the course you wish to study from our postgraduate course list.
  2. Complete an online UWE Bristol application form by selecting the 'Apply now' option on the page.
  3. Once completed, you will be able to track the status of your application using the online application system.

Some courses have an alternative application route. These include the the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and professional law courses like the LPC. If there’s an alternative route, it will be identified on the 'Entry' tab for each course or in the 'Apply for this course' section.

    Jennie's background is in the area of the development of social cognition and has studied areas such as risk estimation, emotional understanding, subjective group dynamics, and social cognition from a developmental perspective. Recently, she has been working in the areas of intergenerational contact, parasocial relationships, neurodiversity, as well as student community and engagement. Jennie is part of the Psychological Sciences Research Group (PSRG).

History

In the academic year 2022/23 we celebrated 30 years of being a university. In 1992, we officially achieved university status. Our anniversary marked a moment to stop and reflect on how far we've come, and how much further we aim to go together. The University of the West of England, Bristol has its roots in a number of colleges, which reflect a lively local tradition of vocational education dating back as far as 1595.

From a merchant navigation school to the present day, our coat of arms was designed to represent, and to celebrate, the long and interesting history of our institution.
