Veritas University is a private university, located in Abuja. It was founded in March 2002 by the Catholic Church in Nigeria. The Institution received its provisional operation licence in 2007 from the National Universities Commission and commenced admission of students in October 2008, at its take-off campus in Obehie, Abia State, Nigeria.

Mission

The mission of Veritas University is to provide its students with an integral and holistic formation that combines academic and professional training with physical, moral, spiritual, social and cultural formation together with formation of Christian religious principles and the social Teachings of the Catholic Church. Through research, the University shall engage in the continous quest for truth, and the creation, preservation and dissemination of knowledge for the good of the society (Ex Corde Ecclesiastes no. 30). 

Based on Christian inspiration and Christ's sacrificial witness, the University shall promote authentic human and cultural development modeled on the person of Christ, and shall champion the cause of justice and uprightness in society, work to empower the weak and the marginalized, and promote dialogue and collaboration in human relationships at various levels and among various cultures and religions (Ex Corde Ecclesiastes nos. 31-37). From inception, the University shall encourage and promote research and scholarship in all fields of knowledge (Ex Corde Ecclesiastes, Gen. Norms Art 2:1&2) as well as carry out teaching and other activities in accordance with Catholic ideals, principles and attitudes, while respecting the freedom of conscience of each person.

Thus, graduates from the Veritas University, Abuja, after successfully completing their studies, should be able to use the knowledge and skills acquired at the Institution for the upliftment of themselves and the Nigerian society. In totality, the University will produce graduates, irrespective of race, gender, political and religious affiliation, who would posses the following qualities:

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  • Candidate who made Veritas University their first and second choice.
  • Candidate who score minimum of 170 in the last UTME examination.
  • Candidates who didnt choose Veritas University in the last UTME Exams can apply for a change in institution to Veritas University.

  1. JAMB result slip showing Veritas University Abuja as the 1st choice.
  2. Proof of O’Level result uploaded on the JAMB portal.
  3. WAEC or NECO result.
  4. For direct entry applicants: Direct Entry Slip & your Verified A’ Level result.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

  • Five (5) O’level credits including Mathematics and English Language
  • Third Class Bachelor's degree from a recognized university
  • HND with at least Upper Credit in relevant fields
  • HND Lower Credit + 5 years post-qualification experience
  • Other acceptable qualifications as approved by the Board and Senate

Master's Degrees

  • Five (5) O’level credits including Mathematics and English Language
  • First or Second Class Honours degree
  • Third Class + relevant PGD with Upper Credit
  • Other qualifications accepted by the Board

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

  • Five (5) O’level credits including Mathematics and English Language
  • Master’s degree with at least 3.50 CGPA or 60% average
  • Equivalent qualifications from recognized universities
  • Relevant professional experience (where required)
  • Demonstrated intellectual capacity, maturity, and decision-making skills

How To Apply For Admission

Undergraduate 

Step 1: Start Application

  • Visit the Admissions portal, and register with a valid email address to create an account.

Step 2: Pay Application Fee

  • On the admissions portal, you will be requested to pay an Application fee of Ten thousand Naira only (N10,000.00) for Undergraduate students. For transfer students, in addition to the application fee you will also be required to pay a transfer fee of Three hundred thousand Naira only (N300,000.00). Please contact Rev. Fr. Step 3: Fill out forms

  • Fill out the forms by providing the appropriate information required. Please ensure that you review your forms properly before submission.

Step 4: Review of Submissions

  • Your submissions will be reviewed by a panel made up of members of the Central Admissions Committee at Veritas University, to ascertain your eligibility to study with us.

Step 5: Interviewing Process

  • After the review, you will be scheduled for an online or physical Interview with a member of the Central Admissions Committee.

Step 6: Final Decision

  • Upon completion of the Interview process, successful candidates will be contacted and issued admission letters.

  • Click on “Application Process” under the “Information for” menu, then select “Postgraduate” from the left-hand side.

Step 3: Start the Application

  • Click “Apply Now” and then “Start Application to Continue.” Select “Postgraduate” and complete the form.

Step 4: Submit & Await Review

  • Submit your completed application. Applications are reviewed by the Central Admissions Committee. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.

History

Veritas University Abuja (VUA), also known as the Catholic University of Nigeria, was founded by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria through a resolution given at its March 2002 meeting in Abuja. The initiative was born by the collective desire of the attending Bishops' for a University that would provide high quality tertiary education according to the tradition of the Catholic Church.
