About

Wellspring University is a Nigerian-based private learning institution driven by pan-African ideology. Ours is a story of resilience and comeback against all odds. We officially began operations in 2009 in GRA Benin-City Edo state. We currently offer 17 undergraduate courses across 4 colleges, as well as postgraduate courses. We are a vibrant community of multicultural staff and students from across Africa. Our institution is committed to the positive transformation of our immediate environment, country, and the world at large. Wellspring University provides a student learning experience that will build the mindset of African leadership for positive change.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

  • A minimum of five credit passes in relevant subjects in their O-Level examinations (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB), including English and Mathematics. 
  • Applicants must also achieve the required score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  1. Candidates must satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University including credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in WAEC/NECO SSCE.
  2. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines from an approved university whose programme is accredited by the NUC.
  3. Candidates with a minimum of second class lower degree and CGPA of 3.00 on a five point scale.(may differ for some courses)
  4. Candidates with a Post Graduate Diploma from a discipline awarded by a recognized institution with not less than an upper credit may be considered.

How To Apply For Admission

Step 1: Meet the general requirements

  • UTME/DE: Register for and take the UTME, or be eligible for Direct Entry. 
  • O'Level: Obtain a minimum of five credit passes in your O'Level results (like WAEC or NECO), which must include English Language and Mathematics. 
  • Specific Programs: Ensure you meet the specific requirements for the program you want to study. For example, a 3rd Class Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is needed for some Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) programs. 

Step 2: Participate in the POST-UTME screening

Eligibility:

All candidates who have the required O'Level passes and have written the UTME are eligible for the screening. This includes those who chose Wellspring University as their first choice and those who did not.

Registration:

Register for the POST-UTME screening as it is a mandatory part of the admission process. 

Step 3: Complete the online application and interview

Online Application:

Fill out and submit the online application form, which is usually done after the POST-UTME.

Interview:

Attend an interview if required, as it is a part of the application process for most programs. 

Step 4: Get ready for the next steps

  • Application Review: The university will review your application after submission and screening. 
  • Receive Offer: If successful, you will receive a notification about your admission. 
  • Prepare for Entry: Ensure you have all the necessary documents and are prepared for the start of the academic year, including understanding the university's dress code.

History

The journey of Wellspring University has been anything but smooth. Since opening our doors to the public in 2010, the first decade was marked by a series of challenges, ranging from the mundane to the tumultuous. The period from 2020 to 2021 was especially pivotal. The Covid-19 pandemic came with its peculiar challenges in 2020 and in 2021, we lost our library to an electrical fire. The impact of these challenges listed above in addition to existing challenges we were facing put us on the verge of shutting down operations.
