Undergraduate Admission Requirement

To be eligible for undergraduate admission at Western Delta University, prospective students must meet the following requirements:

O'Level Qualifications:

  • Obtain a credit pass in at least five relevant Ordinary Level subjects.
  • Achieve this in not more than two sittings.
  • The specific subject combination depends on the chosen program.

UTME or Advanced Level Qualifications:

  • Have attempted the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • Alternatively, possess other Advanced Level Qualifications qualifying for Direct Entry.

UTME Score:

  • Candidates applying through the UTME route should have obtained a UTME score equal to or above the national average for the respective academic session.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

To be eligible for postgraduate admission at Western Delta University, applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

    Professor Prof Raphael M. Mordi hails from Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. He has his early education, primary and secondary in Ubuluku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta... read more
    State. He had his tertiary education in Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA. He is a certified medical laboratory scientist and was registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria in 1983. Prof Mordi, obtained his MSc in parasitology, in 1990 and PhD in parasitology, in 1999.

    Prof Mordi, had his early working career with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) and rose through the ranks to deputy director of microbiology laboratory services. He retired from the services of UBTH in 2010. He joined the services of Benson Idahosa University from 2011 as senior lecturer and rose to the rank of Associate Professor in 2014.

    Prof Mordi joined the services of Western Delta University in October 2016, as an Associate Professor, and is the pioneer Dean, of the College of Applied Health Sciences, Western Delta University, Oghara.

History

Western Delta University was founded by a group of Urhobo Scholars under the auspices of the Urhobo Advancement Foundation (UAF) who saw the need for a privately financed university in the wetlands of Delta State, Nigeria. Since its establishment in 2007, WDU has offered access to a wide range of academic opportunities.

We believe that good education is needed to achieve sustainable development. Thus, the aspiration of the University is to become a premier institution where the best and brightest in scholarship will have ample opportunity to excel.

A license to establish the University was granted in May, 2007, and an aggressive infrastructural development permitted its take off in January, 2008 in which the first batch of students, 149 in number matriculated into 21 degree programmes encapsulated in two Colleges – the College of Natural and Applied Sciences and the College of Social and Management Sciences – in April 2008. Our takeoff campus in Oghara now accommodates the School of Postgraduate Studies and the new College of Applied Health Sciences.

Western Delta University now has five colleges courses in diverse fields of study. They include

Our main campus at Oghara seats on a 152-acre property with paved roads and delightful lawns. It is the seat of administration which is currently headed by Professor Augustine O. Ikelegbe.
