Hannam University was established in 1956 by American missionaries of the Southern Presbyterian Church of the United States (currently PCUSA). As a Christian University, Hannam has never faltered in maintaining its Christian roots as it has a uniquely Christian atmosphere that places emphasis on truth, freedom, and service. Hannam has continued to gain a reputation from the Korean society for its ethical and talented 73,890 graduates serving the Korean society and church. Achieving and maintaining academic excellence in every area of learning, teaching and research is the integral part of Hannam education.
Over the past 60 years, Hannam has attained a remarkable growth to be a recognized private university in Korea and Asia. If no score is available, English proficiency will be evaluated via an interview.
Other Majors (Korean Track):
Submit one of the following: TOPIK Level 3+, TOPIK IBT Level 3+, or TOPIK Level 3+ from Hannam University's Korean Language Center.
Level 3 completion at Hannam University's Korean Language Center.
TOPIK Level 2 is accepted, but requires completing 300 hours of Korean language training at Hannam University within the first year.

Hannam University obtained the 3rd University Institutional Accreditation conducted by the Korean University Accreditation Institute (KUAI), affiliated with the Korean Council for University Education. The university passed all 30 evaluation criteria across five areas, including educational programs, faculty/staff, student support and facilities, and institutional performance/social responsibility.
IEQAS – International Education Quality Assurance System
Hannam University also currently holds IEQAS (International Education Quality Assurance System) certification.
According to Hannam University's June 2026 announcement, it was selected as an IEQAS-certified university in the 2025 evaluation, covering both degree programs and Korean-language training programs. The certification is valid through February 2030. Hannam states that this represents 13 consecutive years of IEQAS certification.
The Korean government's Study in Korea portal also identifies Hannam University as an IEQAS-certified university.
