Through these partnerships, an expanding array of dual-degree programs, exchange opportunities, language courses, and short-term study options are available to both domestic and international students. Annually, over 900 Konkuk students study abroad, while around 2,000 international students attend Konkuk.

Nationality and Academic Requirements

  • Freshman Applicants
    All applicants must meet both of the following:
    • Applicants have graduated or are expected to graduate from accredited primary and secondary schools overseas AND
    • Applicants and their parents are foreign nationals without Korean citizenship.
      If an applicant or his/her parent have Korean citizenship, please visit Admissions for Korean Students.

Language Proficiency Requirements

  • All applicants must submit one or more of the following documents:
    • TOPIK report with Level 3 or above
    • Korean Language Program Completion Certificate issued by Konkuk Language Institute with Level 3 or above

All international students at Konkuk University must acquire TOPIK Level 4 or above to graduate. Admitted students may be required to take Korean language courses based on their proficiency.

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

For a Master's programme:

  • You must have completed, or be expected to complete, a bachelor's degree or equivalent before enrollment.

For a Doctoral programme:

  • You must have completed, or be expected to complete, a master's degree or equivalent.
  • Some departments may require a closely related academic background.

 

Language Requirements

Konkuk University's graduate regulations generally require international students to demonstrate Korean or English proficiency. The university lists the following minimum standards:

  • TOPIK: Level 3 or above
  • TOEFL iBT: 71 or above
  • IELTS: 5.5 or above
  • CEFR: B2 or above
  • TEPS: 600 or above (NEW TEPS 326)

Applicants who are expected to graduate must provide the required expected-graduation documents and later submit their final degree verification.

History

Dr. Seok-Chang Yoo, the founder of Konkuk University, is one of the 13 private academic institutions representing 100 years of Korea's modern history. He was a true intellectual who firmly believed in regaining the stolen nation and building a country of welfare and culture. Dr. Yoo founded the Minjung Hospital on May 12, 1931, with the consensus of 45 representatives from all social groups, including the media and religious leaders, led by 33 members of the 1919 March Independence Movement. Konkuk University established the “PRIME KONKUK 2020“ mid-term development plan in 2017. Under the vision of “A University that Strengthens the Nation and Embraces the World" and the development goal of “Top 5 Private Universities in Korea and Top 100 Universities in Asia“, KU has taken the lead in cultivating WE? who are ?Practical Social Citizens ?Creative Professionals ?Leading Global Citizens. Currently, there are 13 colleges, 62 departments, and 14 graduate schools at the Seoul campus in Hwayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, and 4 colleges, 28 departments, and 4 graduate schools at the Chungju campus in Danwol-dong, Chungju, Chungbuk, with a total of 27,700 students.
