Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  • A four-year Bachelor of Science degree with minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (using a 4.3 scale) or the equivalent if other scales are used, with research experience* in your intended field of study or its equivalent from a University of recognized standing.
  • Students with relevant professional experience and international students from institutions with different academic norms will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • As English is the primary language of instruction at Mount Allison, students must meet our English language requirements.

  • Official transcripts for all post-secondary education
  • Two letters of reference. Your recommendation letters should be from someone who knows you well academically. Faculty members most commonly write letters of recommendation; however, other professionals who know you well and have supervised your work in academia or research may also be an appropriate choice.
  • A letter of support from your proposed Mount Allison supervisor including the duration, amount, and source of financial support offered
  • If your primary language is not English and you graduated from a university where the language of instruction was not English, you must also provide proof of English proficiency, sent by the testing agency

Dr. Ian Sutherland (he/they) is Mount Allison University’s 16th President and Vice-Chancellor. A respected academic leader, he has a deep belief in the transformative power of education and the role that Mount Allison can play in helping manage the change and challenges of today’s world.

Dr. Sutherland most recently served as a Vice-President of Memorial University in Newfoundland and Labrador, with primary responsibility for leading the Grenfell Campus — an institution dedicated to the liberal arts and science tradition, in the tight-knit community of Corner Brook.

    She went on to become a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants. Lynn is the former President of Minogue Medical Inc., a company specializing in the delivery of innovative medical technologies, supplies, and equipment.

    She currently serves on the Board of Directors of National Bank of Canada, a Canadian Chartered Bank, and Emera Inc., an energy and services company.

    Lynn served on the Mount Allison Board of Regents for 11 years, including 8 years on the Executive Committee and a two-year term as Chair. She was also a member of the Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies' advisory board.

    Mount Allison traces its roots to 1839 when Sackville merchant Charles Frederick Allison proposed the creation of a school of elementary and higher learning.
