St. Thomas More College (STM) is a Catholic undergraduate liberal arts college federated with the University of Saskatchewan. Located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, STM offers over 220 Arts and Science credit courses open to all University of Saskatchewan students. The college provides opportunities for intellectual and spiritual growth, emphasizing social justice and the common good. STM is home to a beautiful chapel where Roman Catholic Mass and Byzantine Divine Liturgy are celebrated.

Mission

As the Catholic liberal arts college federated with the University of Saskatchewan, St. Thomas More College courageously explores the "riches of revelation and of nature so that the united endeavour of intelligence and faith will enable people to come to the full measure of their humanity" (Ex corde ecclesiae, 5).We are an inclusive community open to all persons.   3. Engaged Learning

    St. Thomas More College offers students a variety of opportunities to engage with the larger community both locally and internationally through the Engaged Learning Office. This co-curricular program allows students to gain valuable volunteer experience, serve real community needs, and reflect on those experiences in a supportive environment. Every year, up to 30 students are able to participate.


     


     

  4. Campus Ministry

    STM Campus Ministry endeavours to foster healthy faith growth, facilitating programs and events that encourage dialogue and reflection between faith and reason. The Campus Ministry team currently consists of Michael MacLean, Fr. André Lalach and Celeste Woloschuk working in collaboration with our Priest Chaplain, Fr. Dan Yasinski, and Basilian Father Ron Griffin. Dr. Gertrude Rompré is the Director of Mission and Ministry for the College.

How To Apply For Admission

  • Create an admissions account: To apply to most programs at USask, you will need to create an admissions account at apply.usask.ca. Use an email address you will have access to throughout the admissions process to ensure you can receive communications from the university about your application.
  • Fill out and submit your application:

The online application takes about 30 minutes to complete. It is possible to start an application, save it and return to finish and submit it later if you need to.

When filling out the application, be prepared to provide:

  • Your name, contact information and biographical information
     
  • Your educational history, including previous post-secondary education 
  • Your planned program of study

    In general, you should only submit one application for admission unless you are applying for multiple non-direct entry or graduate-level programs. If you are applying to university for the first time or are applying as a transfer student to most bachelor degree programs, you will be able to indicate a first and second choice program when applying.
  • A Visa or Mastercard to pay the application fee

    For most programs, a minimum, non-refundable $120 CAD application fee is required to submit your application. Refer to your program page for specific fee information.

  • Cafeteria: STM's cafeteria is a great place to refresh yourself with our delicious and healthy menu options, visit with friends, or open your laptop and do some work with a beverage close at hand.

 

  • Library: The collection of the Shannon Library at St. Thomas More College is designed to support undergraduate classes taught at the College. As such, it is an excellent source for materials in many disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences, including English (especially Shakespeare, Chaucer and Victorian literature), History, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology, French (Canadiana), and Economics.  It also contains a number of Special Collections of scholarly and literary materials. A recent acquisition is the Nin Literary Collection, donated by Drs. Hinz and Teunissen.

History

The origins of St. Thomas More College go back to 1913 when Saskatoon Catholics first requested a Catholic college for the newly-established University of Saskatchewan. For a number of reasons, nothing came of the request until April 1926 when a group of Saskatoon Catholic laity formed a group called the Newman Society to work actively for the establishment of such a college. By September of that year, arrangements were in place for Fr. Dr. Basil Markle from the Archdiocese of Toronto to teach Scholastic Philosophy at the University of Saskatchewan and to serve as chaplain for the Catholic students.
