Our learning services team equips students with the support they need to thrive in their classes, labs, and assignments. ?The goal of the team is to create success for the entire King’s community as life-long learners. The specialist will work with students individually or in groups to help identify ways students may improve academically.

Library: The Simona Maaskant Library is dedicated to the memory of a special person in The King's University community. Simona Maaskant, King's librarian between 1981 and 1998, provided extraordinary leadership in building the library into a beautiful and functional resource for students and staff. Simona passed away on April 26, 1998 from cancer. She is remembered by the community at King's for her cheerful personality, her faithful friendship, and her generous and gentle spirit. There are many great libraries in Edmonton, including Edmonton Public Library. Anyone living in Edmonton can get an account there, including if you are living on campus! The nearest branch is Capilano Branch, located on 101 Ave.
Residence/Accommodation: King's residence is a great place to live! Featuring amazing amenities like spacious dorm rooms and cozy common spaces, it's much more than just a place to study and sleep. It’s a place where students make lasting friendships, get involved in campus events, and experience support and companionship throughout their time at King’s. Explore your options!
Place of Worship: King’s is a place where you are encouraged to grow spiritually as well as academically. Our prayer is that each student encounters God-centered community where they can explore and express their faith, ask questions, and pursue a meaningful relationship with Christ. Chapel is the highlight of our week, a time to come together for worship, Scripture, and community. Grab your lunch and join us every Wednesday from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. in the Atrium. We’ll gather for worship, Bible-based messages, church collaborations, stories of faith, and fun events full of food and community. We have students, staff, and faculty that come from a large variety of denominations, and we love to celebrate the diversity that makes up the body of Christ.
Prayer Room: This comfortable room is a designated space for prayer, meditation, and Bible study. It's open to drop into anytime during normal building hours and may also be booked for small groups.
Recording Studio: Bring your ideas to life by using the recording studio. Produce a podcast, presentation, or any other project using industry-standard creative software. This soundproofed studio is equipped with a green screen, professional audio gear, and live stream equipment.
Workout Centre: Prioritize your health and fitness while on campus by taking an active study break. The Workout Centre offers a wide variety of equipment, including bikes, ellipticals, and treadmills; cross fit gear like a wall mounted cross box rig, medicine balls, and grips; and a wide range of free weights, barbells, and strength training machines.

1970–1979
King's first president, Rev. Sidney DeWaal, is inaugurated in 1979. The college opens with 55 courses in the arts, social sciences, and biology.
The Wawanesa Building in Edmonton is dedicated as the first home for The King's College and the first year of classes begin with 63 full-time students and 12 part time students.

1980–1989
King's is granted the right to offer its first accredited degree in 1987; a 3-year Bachelor of Arts with concentrations in a number of disciplines. For the first time, four students receive a degree upon graduation.
As a further endorsement of the work happening at The King's College, in 1985, the Alberta government begins providing King's with annual funding. That same year, Dr. Henk Van Andel is inaugurated as King's second president.
1990–1999
Before the end of the decade, the university launches 4-year degree programs in environmental studies, psychology, and English.
During the summer of 1997, the university develops its campus grounds with the construction of a naturalized dry pond (swale) lowered soccer pitch, and numerous trees and shrubs.
King's debuts the B.Ed in Elementary Education in 1994, the first after-degree offered by the university.
2000–2009
In 2007, King's Micah Centre for Social Justice is formed thanks to a grant from the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee. The centre takes over management of the existing Honduras Water Project and adds new global learning opportunities and local justice initiatives.
After a massive community fundraising initiative, the Apartment Residence is opened in 2004 followed by the North Academic Building in 2006.
2010–2019
King's Centre for Teaching and Learning opens in 2019 with dedicated writing and testing facilities, additional student work space, and a new career centre.
A 4-year Bachelor of Arts in Sociology program is launched in Fall 2017.
In 2015, Premier and Minister of Innovation and Advanced Education, Dave Hancock grants permission for The King's University to change its name from "university college" to "university." On November 27, the Alberta Legislature reads the private bill presenting the name change and on December 9, The King's University College formally becomes 'The King's University' upon the bill receiving royal assent.
