Admission

Undergraduate Admission Requirement

Applicants to all undergraduate programs on campus must qualify under one of the following categories:

  • Graduate from a recognised high school curriculum, or
  • Complete 12 or more credits of transferrable postsecondary coursework, or
  • Be 19 years of age or older with no formal education in the past 2 years (some program restrictions apply).

English language requirements

English is the language of instruction at TRU. Successful applicants require a minimum of 73% in grade 12 English or equivalent for undergraduate degree programs on campus, or 67% for undergraduate diploma and certificate programs on campus.

 

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  • Acceptable three- or four-year undergraduate degree in any discipline with a minimum B average (GPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.33 or local equivalent) in the last 60 credits.

Applicants who did not complete their undergraduate degree at an English language university in a country where English is the primary language should have:

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 587 with a TWE of 5.0 or higher (paper-based test), or a minimum score of 94 with no section below 20 (IBT), or
  • A minimum IELTS score of at least 7.0 (with no band below 6.5), or
  • Completion of TRU ENGL 1100 or 1101 and CMNS 1290 or 1291 with a minimum B

ICT: responsible for server support, network firewalls, email, printing, learning management systems, installation and repair of telephones, installation of data lines and data communications equipment, local area networks, wireless networks, media services.

 

Library: TRU Library (House of Learning, Law, and Williams Lake) are shared spaces intended to accommodate diverse student learning styles including both solitary and collaborative study. These guidelines are intended to inform the TRU community in the use of study rooms including those for students (undergraduate, associate, certificate, or diploma) and for graduate students (certificate, diploma, master’s degree).

Dr. Airini

Dr. Airini brings a deep commitment to inclusive education, academic excellence, and community service. She came to Canada as an international student, is a national award-winning educator and researcher, a Fulbright Scholar, and a leader with experience across academic, government, and global agencies.

  • Holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of British Columbia.
  • Served as TRU’s Dean of the Faculty of Education and Social Work (2014–2018), where she helped launch the internationally renowned Knowledge Makers program, and the pan-university Coyote Project.
  • Most recently, served as Provost and Vice-President Academic at the University of Saskatchewan, a member of the U15 group of Canadian research universities.

In government and international roles, Dr. Airini has contributed to education reform, equity policy, and Indigenous success strategies. She currently advises the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization on global education access and innovation.

    sociate vice president academic and, in 2023, became the university’s inaugural vice president research. Her research has focused on workplace traumatic stress and occupational and organizational mental health, and she has taught psychological assessment, epidemiology and research methods. Prior to TRU she served as inaugural dean and later interim dean of the Faculty of Human and Health Sciences at the University of Northern British Columbia, where she also held administrative positions in graduate studies and health sciences. Wagner holds a PhD in clinical psychology and has dedicated her career to supporting emergency responders and other workers who experience traumatic stress.

    he guides the university’s research strategy, develops partnerships with other universities, institutes and foundations, and supports graduate education. Roy came to TRU from Brock University, where he served as associate dean of graduate studies and postdoctoral affairs and previously chaired the Department of Kinesiology and directed the Centre for Bone and Muscle Health. A nationally recognized researcher in sports and clinical science, his work focuses on muscle metabolism, physical activity and injury prevention.

He has led non profit boards and currently sits on the boards of the Kamloops Innovation Council, the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce and the Uptown Business Association. Henry is past president of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada and is president elect of the Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship; he also serves as treasurer of the Canadian Federation of Business School Deans. Henry holds an MBA from the University of Alberta and a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland.
