Application Checklist

You will need the following items in order to complete your application:

Required

  • Go Vols Application or the Common Application
  • Completed Self-Reported Transcript and Academic Record System
     
  • Standardized test scores
  • One required essay—choose one of seven prompts
  • The First-Year Application fee is $75 and is nonrefundable. US Citizens and Permanent Residents may request a fee waiver. Documentation will be required to support the fee waiver request. Acceptable documentation includes one of the following:
    • Complete the UT application fee waiver form (submitted by school official)
    • Submit an application through Common App and qualify for one of the automatic fee waivers (school official will list eligibility)
    • Students may submit a copy of their College Board’s College Application Fee Waiver
    • Students may submit a copy of their approved ACT Fee Waiver
    • Submit a copy of the NACAC Application fee Waiver (signed by a designated school official)

Postgraduate Admission Requirments

  • Applicants must have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting agency, recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). A non-U.S.?degree must be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from the United States and must be granted by a recognized or accredited foreign institution.
  • United States degree holders must have earned a minimum of 2.7 out of a possible 4.0 or a minimum of 3.0 during the senior year of undergraduate study. If you have completed previous graduate coursework, you must have earned a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0
  • Applicants with non-U.S. degrees must have earned a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or other equivalent to a ‘B’ average. If you have completed previous graduate coursework, you must have earned a minimum of 3.3 out of a possible 4.0 or other equivalent to a ‘B+’ average.
  • Applicants may be required to submit standardized test scores, depending upon their program requirements.
  • Applicants may be required to submit English language certification test scores.

Many programs also require departmental applications and may have additional requirements that are specific to the program. Please contact the department directly for any additional program requirements.     John Zomchick most recently served as vice provost for faculty affairs, a position he held for more than five years. He also served as interim provost and senior vice chancellor from August 2016 until April 2018.

    Before joining the Office of the Provost’s staff, he served as executive associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences.

    A professor of English, Zomchick came to UT in 1985. He is a scholar of eighteenth-century English literature.

    The vice chancellor is the chief student advocate for the campus. This role supports the development, assessment, and improvement of campus life and student experiences that meet the university’s mission, priorities, and strategic plan.

    As vice chancellor, Cuevas and his leadership team are responsible for student care and support, health and wellness initiatives, and leadership and engagement opportunities. He oversees more than 450 staff members and 4 million square feet of facility space that includes on-campus housing, campus recreation, the Student Health Center, the Frieson Black Cultural Center building, and the Student Union.

    ton earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and worked in local newsrooms in Missouri, Nevada, Wisconsin and Tennessee. She honed her storytelling skills and discovered a talent for producing quality work on tight deadlines.

    After leaving TV news, she was hired by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) working in media relations, and ultimately launching a larger external affairs team and then transitioning into more operational roles until she joined UT a little over a decade later.
