QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland): As a designated awarding body, DkIT's programs are accredited and quality-assured under the national framework by QQI.
Professional Bodies: Specific degrees across its four academic schools (Business & Humanities, Engineering, Health & Science, and Informatics & Creative Arts) carry specialized accreditations from respected industry and professional organizations.
Dundalk Institute of Technology has undergone enormous change over the last five years in particular. These changes are most visible in the transformation of the physical appearance of the campus, most particularly with the Wind Turbine, the T. K. Whitaker building, the Nursing and Health Studies building, Faulkner Student Services building and further expansion to the Regional Development Centre. In January 2007 the new dedicated Restaurant and Theatre was completed. With the Civic Square that fronts this building and the Wind Turbine in the background, it is anticipated that this area will be a focal point for the Institute in the future. In 2010 the Carroll’s Building, which houses the School of Informatics, Music and Creative Media plus the Research Office, was completed. At the same time that the Institute was expanding physically, the range and level of the programmes offered has been extended. In 2004, the Institute was delegated authority to offer degree and postgraduate programmes in all its Schools.

While the Institute continues to offer programmes in areas that it has traditional strengths such as Engineering, Science, Technology and Business, it has also more recently diversified into Humanities, Arts, Music, Social Studies and Health. The Institute also plays a key role in the economic, social and cultural development of the region with the Regional Development Centre and Lifelong Learning Centre both providing support to the business and general community. Dundalk Institute of Technology has been attracting students from around the world for many years. Currently we have over 400 international students, or 8% of our student population, who have chosen DkIT as their destination to pursue their studies. We have over 25 countries represented on campus, including China, India, Singapore and the European Union. ERASMUS PROGRAMME At Dundalk Institute of Technology we have developed links with many universities throughout Europe to facilitate the mobility of students and staff both to and from the university.
