Marino Institute of Education (MIE) is a teaching, learning and research community committed to promoting inclusion and excellence in education. We have a long and proud involvement with education, specifically initial teacher education (ITE), dating back over 100 years.
Our association with Trinity began in 1976, when the first intake of lay students registered for the Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) course. In July 2011, this relationship was further strengthened with the formalisation of an agreement which places MIE under the joint trusteeship of the Congregation of Christian Brothers European Province and Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin.

None of the Level 9 Master in Education Studies (MES) programmes meet the minimum requirements for a Stamp 2 study visa.
Both the Professional Master of Education (Primary Teaching) and the Máistir Gairmiúil san Oideachas (Bunmhúinteoireacht) both have specific Irish language entry requirements, without exception, and may therefore not be suitable for international applicants.

The application process for international students, for MIE programmes is designed to be transparent, timely and supportive, ensuring that applicants are kept informed at each stage.
1. Submit an Application
Applicants submit a completed application together with all required supporting documentation, including academic transcripts, proof of English language proficiency (where applicable), and any programme-specific documentation.
2. Acknowledgement of Application
Applications are acknowledged by the Admissions Office within 10 working days of receipt.
3. Review of Documentation
The Admissions Office reviews the application to ensure that all required documentation has been received. Where additional information, clarification or supporting documentation is required, the applicant will be contacted and advised of what is needed before the application can progress.
4. Assessment of the Application
Once all required documentation has been received, the application is assessed against the published entry requirements. Depending on the programme, the next stage may include:

Once the application is complete and all necessary information has been received, MIE endeavours to communicate the outcome to the applicant within 10 working days. If, for any reason, additional time is required to complete the assessment, the Admissions Officer will inform the applicant, explain the reason for the delay, and provide an updated timeframe for a decision.
6. Acceptance of Offer
Successful applicants are invited to accept their offer of a place within the timeframe specified in their offer letter. Following acceptance, applicants receive further information relating to enrolment, induction and the commencement of their programme.
7. Appeals
Applicants who are unsuccessful have the right to appeal the admissions decision in accordance with MIE's Admission, Access and Transfer Policy. Information on the appeals process, including how to submit an appeal and the applicable timelines, is provided with the decision correspondence. There is no fee associated with submitting an appeal.

Marino Institute of Education (MIE) is an associated college of Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin (TCD). Most of MIE’s academic programmes are validated, quality assured and accredited by Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. MIE and TCD's relationship has deepened through the development of a joint academic strategy to promote closer and more extensive collaborations in teaching and research, including joint activities between the two institutes. Through the implementation of this joint academic strategy the strengths of TCD will be leveraged with those of MIE to enhance existing relationships and promote new synergies. TCD and the Christian Brothers are co-trustees of MIE. All full-time registered students at MIE have full access to the TCD Disability Service and TCD Counselling Service.

Prof O’Doherty held a permanent lectureship in Education and the position of Assistant Dean, Research for the College of Education at the University of Limerick from 1997-2003 and was appointed Senior Lecturer at Mary Immaculate College Limerick in 2003. She became Principal Lecturer and Head/Dean of the Faculty of Education there in 2005, a position she held until her appointment to MIE.
Marino Institute of Education (MIE), located in Dublin, Ireland, has a history rooted in the Irish Christian Brothers and their commitment to education. Initially established on lands acquired in 1881, it served as a generalate, novitiate, training college, and practice school.
